Hot day at the Range but we survived!

Post by fortyshooter » Sat Jun 22, 2024 3:11 pm

Wife and I decided to go down to the range late this morning so I loaded up the portable generator...the Henry 22 lever carbine and the Mules Leg and off we went in the 90 degree heat. With the A/C running in the shack and holding off the bad guy targets thru the open window it stayed nice and cool inside. When you stepped out to reset the targets if the beating sun didn't get you those sweat flies would!
Wife kept the 45-70 Mule's Leg handy while I had fun with the Henry Evil Roy 22 shooting Quiets. Much better than staying home inside the house!
Notice how green and lush that grass is around there with 90's and no rain for 2 1/2 weeks! Have to get down there again soon and cut the grass again!

Looks good.

I'm not that far from you and all our grass is burnt. Thermometer just hit 100 here. No real rain to speak of for many weeks now. We are officially in a drought. Pretty nice to have AC while shooting!

Yeah the grass around our home is burning up too! Just enough water table down at the range to keep it going for a while.

It was 90+ here today also. The AC for the house is working well and it's plenty cool inside.
Outside.............not so comfortable.

Sounds like y'all made the best of a hot day.
Had a birthday party here for the fourth grandson who turned 4 yesterday.
Had the kiddy pool up and one of those big blow-up water slides to keep the little ones cool.

One of the good things about being able to shoot here in the yard is walking out on the deck, sling a few rounds and come back inside to reload then step back out. Works great in the real cold or hot weather. ;)
I like your little setup there.

The SIL is wanting to sight in the new red dot on the AR today but we'll go next door to the barn for that.
It's pretty shady so it shouldn't be too bad. We'll probably go mid morning before it gets too hot. 76 out there right now, but mid 90's by noon.
