LTT PX4 compact

I had a few hours to kill last week on the opposite side of Richmond from my normal range. I decided to give my new LTT PX4 compact and holster a work out....

I got this back in late march, it was ordered in January just after they were announced. I've shot four or five hundred rounds on my home range, but none in this new holster set up from blackpoint.



This has nearly every option LTT offered other than NP3. DA trigger pull is a hair over 5 lbs on average, SA trigger pull averages 3.5lbs
It's a spiffy little gun. I like the new sights, and prefer it with the red dot compared to my full size px4.

Here are a couple of targets, total 250 rounds down range. Targets were Draw, Fire DA, fire Sa, decock, holster rinse and repeat.

First target was at 21ft and a total of 100 rounds, on 8 targets dots placed on the paper.


The second target was the last 75 rounds on 5 target dots plasters at 30ft. Draw, DA, SA , decock reholster. By this time I'd grown more used to the unique feel of the px4 and settled in.


One of the things unique to the PX4 is how the primers look.

I love my LTT Compact Carry. Looks like you do a lot better than me with your DA shots, I should try your routine, I normally just shoot my first round in DA and then the rest of the mag in SA.

I've thought of getting it set up for a red dot but I'd have to get new custom holsters. I already have a custom kydex IWB and a leather OWB set up for my laser, it's a green laser so it shows up pretty well even in full sun.

Here's a good 7yd target using the laser, DA shot near the top. At least it was on the paper. Second target was my best ever but it was either all SA or my DA shot was clear off the paper.

I've never seen the gun in question, but the DA to SA guns are pretty hard to master in my opinion. I have seen more than one person throw away the first shot, only to get to the SA consistency they have with some other pistols. Being a revolver man first and foremost, the DA shot was not hard to master. It makes me sure I want to shoot. I think I have only two of those types in inventory. They haven't been out for a while due to their DA to SA nature.

Of course I only really have one gun and now three bullets to shoot. One in each shirt pocket and one in the sock drawer in reserve.

Yes, I should practice the DA more. It's my carry gun and I just couldn't get comfortable carrying a striker fired gun with a round in the chamber. With a safety equipped striker fired gun that's one more thing you'd have to deal with in a possibly very stressful condition. The Compact Carry has had it's safety/de-cocker levers converted to de-cocker only but with the longer, heavier pull of the DA I'm OK with no safety. Heaven forbid it's ever needed but I figure by the time I might take fumbling with the safety I could have my DA shot off and be in SA.

This is why I often do the DA first shot, SA second shot, Decock, Holster program. It helps. When i build some confidence with it, I'll move to DA, SA, SA, decock reholster.

I have them on about 1/3rd of my carry guns now. I find it depends on the gun which i am more accurate with. HKUSP9,40,45, ect. I am fine with Irons.

Other guns, the red dot makes things a great deal simpler. IE striker fired guns. I always pull the shot 6" low with irons. Red dot, that is not a problem.
