Shooting with my wife

My wife and I got to shoot three days this week. Shot the new KYL spinner target that she loves to shoot when we go to the range. She was shooting her favorite CZ 452. She is choosing the Trainer every time out now. She is shooting Federal auto match ammo. We bought a couple different lot numbers a while back and tried them for accuracy and then went back to Walmart where we bought them and the lady that works in sporting goods left us look for the same lot numbers and we bought all 11 boxes they had. I have a hard time believing bulk ammo can shoot this well. I am sure most of it does not.
She was running the eight spinners from left to right (I have them set up for the larger size first) and then she would run them in reverse starting at the right with the small ones. It is amazing how fast she can work the action and keep moving through the spinners. She can be about at the fourth one while I might be only on the second or third one. Her best string was 26 shots to hit 24 spinners. The 1/2" has been giving her more trouble than the 1/4" one. I believe it could be the placement of the KYL target and not seeing the 1/2" clear enough against the dark background. We set our own rules where you only get 10 rounds to hit all the spinners. If we would get more shooters to compete we would go by the KYL rules. No one wants to shoot much any more at the club range unless spraying lead with AR's. 22's are not really the most popular with the new generation of shooters.
I ordered a new 1/2" and 1/4" and am going to remove the first two bigger ones at the left and at the right end add another 1/2" and a 1/4" to the 1/2 and quarter inch already there. More of a challenge with the addition of a couple more of the small size. If we had KYL matches here that allowed shooting from a bench instead of prone I honestly believe she could place at the top in the shooters that shoot at the range we shoot at. I might go as far as saying there may not be any one that shoots there now that can beat her. Include me in that group also. There have been a lot of members that have said they wouldn't even try to shoot against her and waste their ammo. I might not shoot against her in competition either and waste my ammo.

bandit, we shoot a lot of Automatch, too. Overall, it's been it's been the best bulk ammo we've tried. That said, I don't use it for serious accuracy work because it has not been consistent, one box to the next. Every now and then we do get a box that has a lot variation in velocity and thus accuracy. Sometimes you can hear the difference in the way some shots sound. When we were shooting semi-auto a lot, these bad boxes would cause failure to fire and cycle issues. Not a big deal. When we get one of these boxes we just use up that box for fun shooting.

Since I no longer shoot much semi-auto, I mostly use CCI SV for most of my accuracy testing. It's been pretty consistent.

I saw a YouTube video a while back which tested the Auto match against the Federal blue box which Walmart sells. The blue box being more expensive was terrible and had many rounds with extreme velocity spread and terrible accuracy. The Automatch was more accurate and more consistent. I still shoot alot of semi auto 10/22 and 22/45. I don’t own a bolt 22. Just a couple of Henry levers and a pump with Marlin 60 bringing up the rear. CcI mini mags are king at my house

What little bit of shooting I’ve done lately a lot of it has been rimfire. Just fun to shoot. Your wife is awesome shooting like that.
