Needs a wheelbarrow for...

Post by BrokenolMarine » Fri Apr 19, 2024 9:12 am

For his big brass ones. :o
Note how the guide stands steady in the face of the charging wounded buffalo, and makes the shot. Then makes the follow up shot to insure the buff stays down. I like the extra rounds between his fingers. At that range, he is an optimist. :D

When that buffalo came out of the thicket, he meant business. Not a time to wish you had bought a better grade of ammo,

Not for the faint of heart, that's for sure.

I have seen several articles on the Double Rifles, and they are beautifully made and in heavy calibers. They HAVE to work and have KNOCK down power... Buff, Rhino, Elephants... often there aren't second chances.

I don't have any experience with double rifles, in fact, I don't think I have ever held one but the ones I have seen photos were functional works of art. Even if I needed one, I couldn't afford it.

I agree. I couldn't afford the rifle or the trip to use it, but those who need them, need them and budget accordingly. I keep in mind that it's a tool of their business and those here that need special tools for our businesses, (or hobbies?) manage to find the funds. Especially if your life, or the life of a client, might depend on it.

Of course, I don't guess having a beautiful stock or engraving makes the gun shoot any better... but the enhancements on other things in life doesn't make them perform any better either, but we pay a lot more for them as well. I don't think the red metal flake paint on the high end bass boats catches more fish, but it sure attracts more fishermen. LOL.

Like fishing lures at Bass Pro. They are designed to catch the fisherman first, the fish later.

I like how he had those extra rounds ready, just in case.

If I had to caption him as he stood ready with the charging beast, I would caption it "Confidence"

You guys know how YouTube works. After watching that video, suddenly my feed was filled with other videos of double rifles and big game hunters and I found myself watching several of them. "Confident" is the name of the game when you are facing charging Big Dangerous Game it seems. "Arrogant" seems to apply as well. A couple of them could even have Abrasive applied to their personalities. But, they still stand firm as Elephants, Rhinos, and Water Buffalos charge within TEN feet and shoot... Yes, impressive.

I'd like a Barrett and a lot of yardage if I was shooting something that could turn me into a pancake. But... I don't trophy hunt.
