A sad time leads up to a happy plan.......

Post by fortyshooter » Fri Dec 29, 2023 4:29 pm

One of my nephews in Ga. passed away suddenly the morning after Christmas and it was a shock to us even though he had been going thru some medical issues. The funeral service was put in place quickly like yesterday Thursday and wife and I were not able to make it but my son was able to make the trip along with another nephew of mine coming from Tenn.
Got a call from my sister down there and also talking to my son and the plan down there is for a big family get together in June 2024 which be around my departed nephew's birthday. The family has some land down there in Central Ga. and they have a 1000 yd shooting range on a piece of it.
While talking with my son down there he said he was able to get a few 1000 yd hits in on a steel plate with the house Ruger 6.5 Creedmoor rifle.
Can't wait to get down there and to celebrate the life of my deceased nephew.

What a great way to celebrate his life. In the meantime my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Sorry for your loss my friend.
I have attended too many military and LE funerals, so we no longer go.
We send flowers and our regrets.
I won't even attend mine or Miss T's; we just won't have one.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Sorry for your loss. It’s good that you could turn it into something positive.

If your nephew was a shooter I’m sure he will appreciate the ringing of the gong in his honor.

Sorry to read that Forty.
My friend in Idaho of 50+ years passed away two weeks ago and we're doing something similar in June. It's been a bit tough; so, I know where you're at.

Thanks guys. Rick is the first of the family grandchildren to pass on and he was 63 and one of 4 kids of my sister. He worked up until the last week of his life as a mechanical tech at the State Veterans Home and was well liked and will be missed. He would go all out to ensure the comfort of the elder veterans.
