Coming soon - a new Lever Action (I hope!!)

Post by Les » Wed Nov 16, 2016 9:17 am

I have just posted my application for a new .22 lever action - which will, of course, be a Henry! It will be a toss up between the Frontier or GB. Due to the firearms licensing laws over here, I'll have plenty of time to make my mind up.

We have to apply for each firearm that we would like to purchase, stating the caliber and type e.g., rifle, pistol, bolt action, semi auto etc etc, and supply a 'good reason' for buying it. Unfortunately, "Just because I want one" doesn't qualify as a 'good reason'! We generally have to be a member of a shooting club, or have approved land on which to shoot.

I currently have six .22 rifles, which is probably nothing special in the USA, but it's very unusual here, so applying for a 7th will require a lot of prayers and more than a bit of luck!

The police force which controls my location are currently taking 1-2 months to process applications, so I'm in for a bit of a wait, but it will be worth it in the long run if it means I can go and buy myself another Henry! :D

Watch this space ..... hopefully I'll be posting a few pics when the time comes! ;)

Best of luck, I hope this process works for you and that you can have your new rifle without too much of a hassle.

Both the Golden Boy and Frontier are good choices but don't forget about the Small Game Carbine.

Good luck, Les. Agree with Sir Henry that the Golden Boy and Frontier are both fine rifles. Can't speak to the Small Game Carbine, but it is a Henry!

I can speak to it.
From my experience, the SGC is an A+ Henry .22 rifle!!

Nothing but the best, Les, as you go for your next Henry. :)

Hey, Les. There's a reason why the provincials got all worked up back in 1776. I feel for you, brother. Your constable would have a coronary if he found my gun safe. :) And I'm not even all that radical, compared to some. Last count was about 17 long guns and a couple of handguns. A little of this and a little of that, from caplock muzzleloaders to shotguns to AR-15. My Henry .45-70 is the latest addition. Hope you get yours soon.

Thanks for all the good wishes! :D

I'm not sure if the SGC is available here. If it is, then it's very hard to find. On the positive side, at least I've got plenty of time to try to track one down.

Anyway, the countdown has begun, so I'll keep charging the camera batteries and hoping for the best! ;)

Darn. If I had to apply every time I bought a gun, they'd run out of paper.

I've already got the firearms department on speed dial. They must be sick of seeing my name come up. Perhaps that's why the buggers keep me waiting so long!

Boy that does suck. Americans are very lucky that we can purchase firearms anytime we fell we "just want another one". Thank god we have the NRA here to help protect our rights.

Excellent! Can't wait for pics. I sure like the looks of that Frontier octagon .22. That's a cool rifle.
