Brought the Winchester 1892... the Stoeger Coach Gun and the new Cimarron Old Model 1873 44-40 revolver out to the range this afternoon.
Took the first shots with the revolver shooting 200 gr. MB bullets loaded with 8.5 Unique and then the 200 gr. Xtreme plated with 6 gr. Red Dot.
After 3 shots of the Xtreme load the 4th sounded really muted...Oh no a squib load! Yep there was the bullet about halfway down the barrel stuck.
So got the bullet out and continued on with no more of those issues. Maybe bad primer or no powder but I do check all my loads for powder and now I have a nice slug to measure the bore which was .429!
Plate target shows the MB bullet/Unique load to the right of center and the Xtreme bullet/Red Dot load in a nice cluster circled. Was happy to see it can shoot well. Had a few rounds that still did not want to seat all the way in the cylinder and could be a crimp issue there but those were with the MB bullet and about 5 of those.
I did do some main spring tuning on the Cimarron to lighten up the hammer pull which also helped with the trigger pull and it feels about like my other six shooters now.
Had fun blasting some targets with the 20 ga. coach gun and of course the 1892 was still shooting good which all made for a great afternoon!
Guess who just had a birthday? We did. Henry Rifle Forums has made it to the 10 year mark. Thank you to all members, I'm glad you are here!

Sounds like a fun Sunday afternoon.
The six shooter really likes the red dot loads from the looks of that target.
Neat little trio you have there forty.

Re: Little 3 gun fun today..
Thanks Gene! The way it comes from Cimarron looks good but I thought it could use a touch more age. I played around with a mix of salt, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide and dapped around with a Q-tip. Let it sit for couple hours and then carefully wipe off with wet rag. No oil applied to it yet as I don't want to remove any rust yet.
When it is shipped it is covered in oil in a bag and when you clean it off some of their rust comes off.
Might try some pumpkin carving with it later!
