Goodbye old friend......

Post by fortyshooter » Mon Oct 02, 2023 10:37 pm

Sad to see it happen but The Smoking Gun Range and Shop had it's final day today. The only indoor shooting range in the area and was a great place to use as your FFL pickup plus they carried some used firearms...they decided to close up due to the insurance company failing to cover the needed cost to rebuild after a fire in the shooting range early this year. My friend that owned the place died suddenly last year and his family wanted to continue on running the place. They struggled thru after the fire only opening half days and no income from the always busy range,
So in town there is now only one gun shop and place to use as my FFL pick up location.

Goodbye old friend :(

Sad to hear it. With the political situation these days, I made sure I had a place to shoot when we bought the new farm. I ruled out several nice places that didn't offer a layout that would allow for a range... or the neighbors were too close and might be bothered. I am lucky, there is a nice local shop here, and a large shop in OKC... for now.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Sad to see, but understand, and like marine said, with all the political bs running rampant these days.
We lost one of the shops here a couple years ago, nice couple they were.

For the past year or so we have a new gun shop here in town. They dont carry much ammo or reloading supplies but they do carry quite a few guns. Not as many rifles as pistols. I have done some business there and I may pass by there today. On a side note the new 3 day wait to buy a gun started Oct 1 here. Im sure the criminals who are selling or buying will wait there 3 days

Sad. Too bad that the owners did not buy coverage for a rebuild. If business did not support that, I could understand. The sport of shooting may not be as popular or political correct as other sports. It seems to be under attack, like smoking is. Like smoking, shooting will probably reserved for those who have money to splurge.
