Took 20 years trying different projectiles and makes of black powder for regulation all failed .Some were close but shot low with the 200 yd express sight. Finally did it with a nitro for black load and a 350gr woodleigh bullet made for the 450x3.25"bpe. I have shot one red deer hind with it. DRT!

One thing I've noticed about big iron owners is they tend to be very accurate, calm, and deliberate shooters. That don't mean they're slow on target. It does mean they make every shot count.

I once owned a Smith and Wesson Model 29 in .44 Magnum. It was chrome plated and a beautiful
hand gun, but, it wasn't any fun to shoot. I wore ear plugs and muffs and it still hurt my ears. The
checkered grips would eventually cause my hands to bleed from the recoil. I said to myself that this
isn't much fun so I sold it. Now I enjoy .22s.

This is BIG IRON, it's big, it's heavy, it's massive, it's accurate, and it's FUN to shoot. 38 semi-wadcutter.
A custom built PPC gun, one hole groups rapid fire at 7 and 15 yards, 10 ring at 25, and capable of 9 and 10 ring at 50 yards.... or I used to be.


My Ron Power Custom PPC 38, this was my first PPC revolver. A rare find an I shot most of the matches with it.

That sight rib makes the matches easier. Four choices, you set one for 7, one for 15, one for 25 and one for 50 yards. On the back of my clipboard was a NOTE that said, SIGHTS to remind me to check the sight setting.

This is my Keefer Custom. Jerry Keefer built PPC and Bullseye guns for our group and for shooters all around the country. He had a complete shop in his workshop in the middle of nowhere and could turn any part you needed on his lathe or machine it from a solid block of metal. His guns WON matches and the top shooters at the Police Nationals several years in a row where shooting Keefer guns.

How about some big bore cap & balls?
All 44's, the first pic. is of the 1858 and the deer I took with it.
In the second is a pair of 1851's, the 1858 and a 1862.
I do have an 1851 in .36 cal., but not in this pic.

Next up is a Kimber Eclipse and my favorite 45 acp the CZ 97. Then below is a Ruger Blackhawk in 41 mag the best big boomer in the world and the new Smith 610 in 10mm. I have some other pistolas in tinier calibers like 357 but those are just little boomers

Lastly some really cool boomers. Top gun is a John Bergmann built Hawken full stock in 54 cal followed by a Lyman Plains Rifle flintlock in 54 cal and then another Bergman built Hawken in 54 cal. Rifle #4 is a really big boomer a Shiloh Sharps 1874 rifle in 45-100. At the bottom of the pile is the Henry in 41 mag.
