As long as you are happy with it and it works for you, that's all that matters.

Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
At a service station near the interstate there is a Tesla charging station. There are 10 - 12 charging "pumps" . I finally saw a Tesla charging up. It had been completed for about 2 or three months. I felt bad for the guy as at first he was out arrainging things in the front and back areas. Then he finally got into the car and sat. We had stopped next door at a drug store and I was watching our granddaughter in the car. There was nothing for him to do but wait. The service station has food, but not much atmosphere.
Coach, I'm glad to see that you can charge from your solar set up. As someone pretty sharp said, if it works for you!

Here’s the current status for my Mustang Mach E.
I have an app on my phone that monitors it.
Charged by my solar system.

At what point does the battery start to restrict you from using full pedal? Can you run 70 for 232 miles or does it throttle you back before it goes dead.

Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
According to this article, cars can go a little bit beyond 0% still drive at speed, but acceleration and performance are sluggish. Cars eventually roll to a stop.
https://www.moveelectric.com/e-cars/wha ... ut-battery
Specific to the Mustang EV
This article has a slider tool one can play with to get an idea on how distance traveled is affected by ambient temp and driving speed.Like most of the electric cars involved in the test, the Mach E displayed a number of messages to stop and charge.
Once 0% was displayed, the car managed a whole loop of the 15-mile test circuit at varying speeds but when it was about to go for another run the car was unresponsive. Power steering was unoperational, although some systems remained.

Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
I can say this after my road trip home that there will need to be a massive influx of public charging stations to handle the EV traffic.
2 of my stops were just fine. My second stop was a nightmare. Only 2 of the charging stations were working.
The electric Shell station looked cool.
Electrify America charging stations are always full because they have contracts with car companies to provide free electricity for a time after you buy your EV.
I got 250 free Kilowatts with my Mach E. While talking to other folks at the stations I heard 1 year and another guy said 3 years.

I was just on the news that Ford is cutting production of the electric F150 due to lack of demand
and oversupply.

Gee I cant imagine why. The extended range battery for that truck is good for 320 miles and replacement is 35K. Takes 8 hours to charge. The standard battery is 28K and is good for 225 miles. And dont hook the camper to it because you might only get a 100 miles from home

Coach, do you know what the cost of charging per mile v the cost of gas? I have no idea what charging costs are and how to compare the cost to gas vehicles. I understand that E cars are produced with the idea of non emissions rather that cost to operate but have no idea what those costs are. Pretty cool that you have a solar set-up to charge yours, even a dummy like me can figure out the cost with that.

Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
I have no idea how much it costs per mile yet. I only have 651 miles on it. 350 miles were put on it getting it home from SoCal to the SF Bay Area. I really if I’m being honest, don’t care about the gas vs electric cost.
I didn’t buy it to save energy or the planet. That had nothing to do with my decision. I’m not a Green warrior by any means.
I bought it because it is a super cool and nice car. It’s actually a bigger SUV than my Escape.
I really liked my Escape but after 10 years I was ready for a change. The Mach E is a change for sure…

We already have the solar system because my cousin drives a Volt for the last 10 years. He put the system on the house. He paid for it and I had nothing to do with it.BigAl52 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 10:58 amHatchdog wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 10:33 amCoach, do you know what the cost of charging per mile v the cost of gas? Our electric bill last year was a $250 credit to our account. That’s with running the AC and heat year round.

Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
Thats a great deal for you then. But for anyone else if they did this it would cost them something for the solar. Im not picking on you by the way just trying to be a realist for anyone else looking at this. As I said prior I guess I have a bur in my saddle because it seems as though this EV stuff is being shoved on us. If you are happy with what you did and it sounds like you are thats all that mattersCoach wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 12:00 pmWe already have the solar system because my cousin drives a Volt for the last 10 years. I agree solar is a big outlay of cost.
I personally wouldn’t pay for a solar system but my cousin did. He has the $$$.

First night drive.
I wanted to test out the auto high beams setting. It worked well. When you hit a dark area the Mach E automatically turns on the high beam. When you go past a street light or there’s an oncoming car they switch back to normal lights. It doesn’t just switch between the two as much as it spools up and down subtlety.
