Backyard Bucks

I had two pretty respectable bucks just outside my backyard last evening. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get close enough for a good picture with my camera phone. I’ll post these anyway but if you’re looking on a small screen you probably won’t be able to get much detail. Both still in velvet of course so even with some additional antler growth once they shed the velvet they won’t be near as impressive.

I have friends that live in the city limits of Bend, Oregon that have had bucks like that bedded within spitting distance of their rose bushes and such. Right now, they have a Doe with her fawn staying in their yard.

We only get random Does running through our property. They like to feed in my wife's garden as well.

Didn't you just have a moose in your back yard recently, or was that someone else?

That's the first time I've seen EXIF data for a cell phone picture.

F/1.5, 1/105 sec with a 5.7mm focal length. They translate that to 133mm in a 35mm equivalent. Actually, I looked up the specs and it has a 7 element lens. I was rather surprised by that, given the size of the lens.

We see a lot of wildlife out here, but we are "Out Here." Nice Bucks. We have one old guy that has been around for the three years we have been here... Looks like the Hartford Elk. Don't know how he makes it thru each hunting season unscathed. We don't hunt... I shoot a lot, just don't hunt. Nothing against it, just don't hunt myself... not since my time in the Corps.

Yes, I had that moose last week. My son just had one at his place too and he has had several visits this year. He has a large guard dog Pyrenees mix that got into a stare down with the bull. Needless to say, the moose won the stare down.

We have an occasional doe wander across the backyard, mostly coons, possums, and armadillos.
But I just happened out the backyard a few moments ago and caught these 3.
Clovis, I do believe these are a bit heavier than yours.
