Found that out a coupla days ago, when I thought I'd do some shooting with the .30-30. Didn't check the club calendar, and when I got to the range, the mid-week Bench Rest guys were there. I was kinda "condescended to" while one of them explained bench rest shooting to me. Like ya said, they are indeed a different breed.

However, somehow, they DO manage to find primers and components......

... So yesterday morning, I got a call to come in and buy a 2 box limit of CCI large rifle sparklers.

They were around $6.50 per 100. They only had one brick of those, but had quite a few small rifle, and small pistol primers. No idea what those prices are.

The cool thing about my buddy at BiMart is that he reloads, and is working to get more components and related stuff in stock. I also bought a box of Hornady #3035 150 grainers for somewhere in the $38 range per 100. Like a good male shopper, I cannot find my receipt to double check the bullets' cost. Sometimes I have to hide the evidence from my better half, or she beats me......

Added in EDIT: The primers I bought were CCI BR-2 LRPs. Are these the "Bench Rest" primers, and if so, I wonder if there's a nickel's worth of difference between those and their "regular" LRPs?

The CCI #200 std primers run about a $5.50/100. I think you got a good deal on the BR primers. Over here they run close to $9/100.

I have to go all "Hunter Biden" on her, and tell her the $$$ has been sent to shell corporations named Winchester, Henry, & Ruger. Until I go moving in a bigger/another gun safe, it's working so far..... Them IRS agents got nuthin on my wife, hee hee......

But all that aside, I have, and I'm sure most here have, paid less for a gun in the past than what bricks of primers are now going for,,,,,,

I don't lose those receipts. Spending hundreds would be noticed so some seed plant grooming is required so that it somehow isn't my idea to buy a new gun.
Spending about $12 at a time on primers is very much under the radar.

My last two firearm purchases were at the urging of my wife. One my Henry 410 she bought me for my birthday and the other a Ruger AR15 in 300 BO that she encouraged my to buy before the state “assault rifle” ban became law. She’s such a pain in the …!

I was at the local Coastal Farm Supply gun desk this morning. No primers, but got to talking about when some might be expected. Word is, toward the end of July primers are expected to be plentiful.

Got a couple emails today from Midwayusa about small pistol primers being in stock. Winchester. You could buy them for 99.99 a thousand. Thanks for letting me know you have them in stock Midway but at that price you can keep every one of them. I see them on Ammoseek from other suppliers for 62.99 a 1K.

Brownell's has small pistol magnum primers in-stock and available for $79.99 per thousand.
The Haz-Mat fees and shipping will bring that up, but delivered to your door makes it a decent deal.

Still sitting pretty good on primers. If availability improves and prices keep lowering, I may pick some up. Just don't need 'em at present.
Which reminds me; need to load up the .45 acp and .45 Colt I shot up a couple days ago.

Forgot to include that I did buy a brick of Federal Large Pistol GM150M. The $79.99 was not to my liking but is considerably better than the online pricing elsewhere $110 to $140 depending on the online vendor.

I did go by the Hillsboro BiMart and Coastal Farm this morning looking for Large Rifle primers. Neither store had any. Bimart had a few CCI Small Rifle, I did not ask the price.

It seems the BiMart stores of our area are sorta sketchy with regards to reloading stuff in general. Different stores have almost totally different inventories for reloading components and ammo. Had an eye doctor appointment in Gresham yesterday. The office is within walking range of a Coastal Farm and Ranch store and a BiMart store. Both stores have had reloading stuff in the past, but all I got was exercise......
