Best way to build a Ford Windsor type stroker is to start with 427 cubes based off the aftermarket Dart block. Comes with the 4.125 bore and you add a Scat or better 4.00 stroke crank. With the large splayed 4 bolt main caps no worry of anything moving around on the bottom end.
Add a good set of heads....aftermarket of course and a correct looking for a Ford 427 intake manifold and perfect for a Cobra or poor man's Cobra a relatively light 80's Mustang LX with chassis stiffening of course. The bore/stroke is the same within a few thousandths as the Ford FE 428/ 428 Cobra Jet.

No question about it father&son projects are great fun. So far my 42 year old son has not driven my little beast Mustang in it's current stage and I need to fix that. Father's Day is coming up though! He is good with a manual trans since his daily driver is a turbo something with a 6 speed and he had driven my old 2001 Bullitt Mustang I used to own.

Have a friend that built a Factory Five Cobra kit using the Ford Racing Parts 393 stroker 351W crate engine and it would run easy mid 11's at the drag strip. He later sold it after a couple years of fun. I also did some carb tuning on another guy's Superformance Cobra that was built with the big Ford Racing Parts crate 460 Cobra Jet crate engine. Went for a few rides in it and even with drag radials on the back it would blow them off in 2nd gear at any speed. Now 3rd gear was plain scary as it would torque up and hook up and keep you plastered in the seat praying for mercy!!!
