Yep it took the whole crew to help swap out the 4 spd in my buddy's 1966 Chevy Biscayne 427. Couple weeks back some of the crew had rounded off the fill plug on the tranny. It was due to the wrong type plug...cheap cast steel one that was stuck in place. They wanted me to weld a large nut on it in order to try and get large wrench on it. Result then was the end on what was left broke off so he found a rebuilt 1969 M-20 to replace it.
Should have been a simple swap BUT little differences between the model years made for some complications! The shifter stubs on the new one were large by 1/8 inch in diameter than original so I had to spend time setting up the three original shifter levers in mill to open them up and then other friend had to work the corners out with a dremel. Then the input shaft bearing retainer had to be swaped out along with different screws and then the speedometer cable/gear assembly.
Finally around 5 PM we had it on the ground and running. Not too bad for a bunch of old timers!
Site seems to be OK. Load issue should be resolved now.

I don't describe projects like this in time, it's always how many six packs of beer to get the job done.

Mighty clean set-up under the hood there. Plain Jane missle!
