Antler art

Post by Hatchdog » Sun Apr 23, 2023 10:52 am

Earlier this week my son’s dog found this nice whitetail rack and drug (literally) it home. He and my DIL were able to wrestle it away from him (6mo Grand Pyrenees) but the dog was reluctant to give it up. They plan to clean it up and make it into an art piece for the home. Runs in the family, several years ago my previous dog found an intact deer skeleton on my place and I cleaned up this rack and my wife made it part of the kitchen.

Some pretty nice racks there. I have 2 or 3 of those also, the dog found 2 and I found one.
One is still in the carport and needs cleaning up and two are here in the cave.

I'll get a couple pics for ya.

This one the dog found, and sits on this antique table by the back door. It has a nice little drop tine on the back.

This one the neighbor killed, he had it hanging up to clean and a dog or something ran off with it.
I found it a couple months later out just walking around.

Nice vaquero and all of them add to the awesome photos you post. That chewed up skull and antlers mounted with the rusty saw blade is perfect! :D

Hatch, that would have been a nice deer! Looks very similar to the one I arrowed this fall, except mine was 4x3 instead of 4x4.
