125 grain Berry and H110 .357 loads.

Loaded these yesterday and based on hodgdon data, velocities may be excessive for plated bullets. Used 21 grains of powder. Lyman and hodgdon velocity data are much different for same bullet weight. Any thoughts?

Personally, I would not shoot those reloads.

I have never used plated bullets, so I could be wrong, but I think they should be treated like lead bullets. Twenty-one grains of H110 seems dangerous. Be careful.

Shooters Reference tables lists it as a max load for plated and h110. Velocity is 100fps more than Berry recommended.

Hornady's Ninth Edition sets the max H110 load for 125 grain JHPs (XTP) at 19.4 grains with a velocity of 2K per second.

There's a lot of variables from different sources, myself I wouldn't use plated in a magnum load. They're fine for 38 and 45acp etc.

I had a hard time finding consistent info on 125 gn .38. When I get home I’ll look in my notes to see what I did, it’s important because I squibbed one in a 38 revolver and have found success now.

I'm pushing 158 grain fmj plated flat nose from Everglades ammo, in my Henry, over 1600 fps w/o any problems.

Might check Powder Valley. They have 125gr Zero bullets that are jacketed and should work fine for the H-110. The price of the zero bullets is close to what you would pay for Berrys plated.

125gr JHP or JSP ZERO bullets are also available directly from the distributor for $131.90 per 1K with free shipping. These are excellent bullets.

JPM were thos the regular plated Beery's or the thick plated. I have some of the thick plated ones that are rated to 1400FPS that I want to explore with.
