Lever Rifle I wish Henry would make, I can dream Can't I

Post by jstanfield103 » Wed Feb 22, 2023 6:42 pm

I wish Henry would make a Big Boy Steel in 9mm. I think that would be a cheap rifle to shoot in todays market place. It sure would be a nice easy shooting rifle. I know it can be done and they are just the ones to do it. Better ammo availability and price.

I tend to agree. With all the other pistol calibers available and the affordability and availability of 9mm caliber, I think it would sell big time. I personally would be interested, more so than the Homesteader. Let's pair our 9's with a BB as well.
Good idea IMO.

I, have certainly seen the discussion, but have to admit that this same thought crossed my mind. I don't need the magazine. I would rather cycle the rounds.

Well this is a start in the right direction and Henry should be able to figure it out with a tube magazine!

Not my cup of tea at all. I would buy a more trading in 9MM.

Maybe a 9mm in a Henry Long Ranger version. I don't think Henry would do a 9mm in a mag tube rifle. Some of the 9mm ammo is too pointy and powerful. +P ++P.
Liability issue I would think.

I was pointing out that they figured out how to make a 9mm round work in a lever rifle. Don't care for the look of the rifle at all.

No problem Forty. I think Hatch put a link to that same rifle earlier this week in another thread when someone mentioned 9 mm levergun. The responses then were the same that gun is not popular.

Mags,
Yes I have seen the Homestead. It does not interest me a bit, in fact it aggravates me more than anything. So far behind on rifles that got you there keep building them. At least a 9mm is not a new rifle But a 9mm lever rifle which they are mostly set up for. What really got me thinking about it was this YouTube video. This one is in .45 ACP on a Winchester 92. This would be awesome in a 9mm. Man it would be a great home defense, Ranch/Farm, Coyote rifle and cheap to shoot. If he can do it and another country can do it Henry definitely can. Great video and explains a lot.

Had not seen that one - no, not my cup of tea at all either, not even to shoot someone else's. But different strokes, yadyadyada...

Not so sure how I feel about a 9mm lever - never really thought about it. I still prefer the 357M lever over a 9mm...

My first reaction was what? Why would Henry do that? Not their wheel house.

Ya, 9mm not long range. I should have been clearer. As in Long Ranger similar. A lever rifle with a magazine, no mag tube.

With a mag tube, you'd think Henry could base it on their 357. For new, reduce the bore to .354 (9mm) and use the Homesteader chamber die to cut a 9mm chamber.

I would think Henry could do it cheap. I would Love the cheaper 9mm ammo. I have a Henry in .357 the Classic BB and a Steel Carbine in 44 that I am finishing up the way I want it. But the cheaper 9mm would be awesome just to plink with and what ever. No recoil, magazine tube would hold more than the .38 and .357 and a heck of a lot cheaper. Heck already talk myself into buying it as soon as they make one. One day they will.
