Five Shot Group Update

Post by ditto1958 » Fri Oct 28, 2016 8:15 pm

Hey guys. I've been working recently on shooting five shot groups at 100 yards with my CZ 452. It has been very slow going. I quickly discovered that my new rifle is extremely accurate, and that it is actually somewhat easy to shoot tiny three shot groups with it. Once I move to five shots, the shooter's skill (or in my case, lack thereof) comes into play much more.

After about a week of shooting five shot groups, I can report that I have made very little progress. I tend to have one of two things happen. I either get a good group of three, but two outliers, or I get two good pairs with an outlier.

Today I got one decent five shot group that was very close to being a one incher. The rest were all best forgotten.

This project is going to require many, many hours at the range for the foreseeable future.

Keep tickling that trigger. Try thinking about each shot as if it is the first.

You got that spot on, ditto.
Practice...practice...practice...
Repeat as many times as it takes!

Range time will be fun, too. :)

Enjoyment!? This is hard work. And serious business, too! Not only that, but I could be doing this several times a week for years.

Good luck! Sounds like lots of range time coming up. I'm always pretty excited at my 1 shot groups...

Funny, but the other day on the marlin owners forum a guy was REALLY BOASTING about his 3 shot groups his marlin 336 was producing, pics and all.

I was going to mention something about going for 5, but didn't want to open a can of worms on the dude's thread.

But really; I've shot some GREAT 3 shot groups, spectacular two shot groups, and many of my one shot groups are world class :D

Be strong ditto. You will get through this having to go shootin' several times a week. I was like you wanting to shoot three-round groups. But TGR told me anyone can do that and said I had to do ten-round groups to really improve.

Ten shot groups are too expensive. :)

Next time do a one-round group. Guarantied to be a gold medal winner.
