Well RT, you know I am willing to make the sacrifice for the team, in fact, for the good of the team I am going back out Monday ! ! ! You should hit some very nice weather in your neck of the woods next week, as long as no foreign balloons float by ! (then again, there's your moving target)

Ommph! That comment about "foreign balloons" damn near had me spraying beer on my screen! But, I will keep an eye out for one of those pesky things. Where we go is pretty close to Edwards Air Force Base, so, there is activity for a free air show most times. Any stinking floaters there might be in trouble. Can't wait to get out there.

Went out and killed 100 pigeons today. . . . OK, they were Clay . . . . Ok, I only killed 91 out of 100 . . . . Ok, I only killed 85 and wounded 6. Anyway, weather was 70, some cloud cover and a perfect day to shoot !

Now I have to reload this weekend to do it again on Monday !

It's a tough job, but, someone has to do it r-n-g!! I'll be in the desert next week myself for some lead slingin'. Seems to be pretty nice out there right now and hopefully for the next few days.

Hey Tom, I ran a few of those 45's through the two rifles this morn.
The Rossi actually did slightly better than the Marlin.
That peep on the Marlin needs to be lowered it's way to tall.
And my inexpensive Winnie didn't disappoint today either as it shot better than the other two.

What do you figure you have in loading a 20ga shell RnG? I just did some math( ya I know thats hard to believe) I come up with .34 cents each. Im seeing shells for sale close to that. This reloading shotgun almost isnt worth it.

Just pumped out 100 more rounds of 12 gauge for next week. We have an infestation of clay pigeons in the region that must be dealt with !

Tom, you got me thinking about cost per shell. I did the math (like you I went to public school so its hard to believe I can count with my shoes still on), and came up with 37 cents per 12 gauge round for 7 1/2 shot using Red Dot.

If I was going to purchase factory ammo, Winchester AA target with 7 1/2 works out to 55 cents per shell. So 37 cents per 55 cents, it is a savings of about four and a half bucks per box.

Anyway, I enjoy the process and like loading what I need when I need it instead of having to run to the LGS.

Loaded a few 7mm-08 Rem. test loads for my Encore Pro Hunter pistol (15" bbl). Used IMR 4064, 42.0 gns with 5 loads, + and - .3 grains, under Sierra ProHunter 120 grn soft points
Also some with 43.0 gn Varget under 120 grn Nosler BTs.
I've used Varget with 139 grn SPs in the past. Some deer dropped DRT and others shot in the same place, made it off 40 to 60 yards. Trying smaller bullet for more velocity. Both these bullets rated for deer. Looking for better penetration and expansion. Maybe more consistency.

Nice to see one of these around. I dont have an encore but I have a contender. 357 max barrel and a 41 mag barrel. thought about getting more barrels but man has the price of those barrels gone way up.

RnG right here in Texas Federal 100 round boxes are 34.50 ea. Maybe you are brand loyal to AA but there are 12ga shells out there that are more reasonable than the AA loads. As far as enjoying the reloading goes thats priceless. Since you have a loader one might as well use it. You also might keep an eye on Tru Shot in Tempe they have some good prices on loaded shotgun shells

Thanks Al, I prefer Remington STS with Winchester AA as my secondary as these are my two preferred hulls to reload. For me with all my reloading, its not just the destination but the journey to get there !

Have you tried the Nosler Partition/140gr bullet?

Good point. I used Partitions in my .308 Win. and they are like a hammer!
When I was using heavier bullets in the 7mm-08, I used 139 gn, Hornady Interlock SPs, then went to TTSX 140s the next year. Although more than one deer each year, I didn't see a lot of difference/improvement. Maybe the best approach is to buy some ballistic gel to see the differences between them without having to wait so long! 7mm Partitions are usually available.
Any experience reading differences in bullets like that?

No, not that I can recall. I no longer hunt, so, haven't loaded up any hunting type ammo in a while.

I received my dies and bullets for my 300 Blackout project yesterday and picked up a couple of powders last week to supplement the powders on hand. I’m going to start with 110, 125 and 155 grain bullets and see where that lands. (Pun intended). Also received 250 pieces of brass from Starline. I checked them all for length and all were perfect. Starline recommends chamfering the case mouths so I’ll do that too. Love projects like this, loading a new caliber.
