hunting in the Adirondacks

Post by biglever » Wed Oct 26, 2016 4:46 pm

Well I got the oil changed in the truck this am .
And the truck is all loaded ready to go, in the am.
But instead of sleet and snow tomarrow now they are calling for 100 per cent chance of rain.
Iam not going in the rain all day.
Will check the weather in the am. Hopefully. The cold will come in.
Won't get another chance till middle of next week.

Well I Went up to Newcomb at 3:30 am.
It rained hailed and snowed, and poured..
Found fresh deer signs and coy-dog tracks.
Very noise walking on the crusty snow.
Made it up on a rige and sat till it started to pour, and I got soaked.

Thanks, the photos are great. Brings back memories. I have been there, done that under the same conditions many times, raingear and all. Sometimes I would think that no self-respecting deer would want to be out in conditions like that. But then sometimes I would get lucky and get a shot at one passing my stand. Or just stillhunt and sneak through the laurels and pines when the weather turns bad like that. You just never know, but it seems like the high tide of deer movement, for me anyway, has been with a gentle snow fallng in the absence of any wind. I am not too keen about spending time in the woods in the rain anymore, not at 71. It's hard on my sinuses. :D I hope you still have luck. The snow is a good thing.
