The photo loaded on my computer from right to left. All I could see at first was the dog behind the wheel. My mind immediately chimed in:

Mother of pearl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got to 2 degrees in the hills of NoGa last night. Tonight it warmed up to 12. Probably another 3 days and nights of cold to come. We generally get about a week of cold weather every year, but this year it's come very early.

It's been an odd year. Extremely wet spring, about 30 days of real hot summer. Almost zero acorn drop. I've seen all this before but not all in one year.

Good to see somebodys nice and warm.

Well, it's above zero and the wind has gone down.
The flip side is there is more snow coming this afternoon when we're going to our daughter's home for Christmas Dinner.
My Father always used to tell me it had to "warm up to snow".
Seems he was right.

Stay safe.

For those of you who didn't catch the "mother of pearl" reference, watch this. It's short.

So right on time our Generac started up. It will run for about six minutes doing diagnostics and then send me an email. It
hasn't failed to start every Monday all through this cold weather. I have no idea if we have lost power at any time and it
kicked in. I guess it would send me an email if it did.

I just went out front and back feeding the birdies in my Red Wing boots. I have two pair of these.
https://www.redwingshoes.com/work/mens/ ... =mens-work

My oldest pair I've had for almost forty years and the tread is smoothed out from walking and campfires getting too close, but they are still useable.
My newest pair which I'm wearing now are about ten years old. I know, expensive. I purchased these when they were less
than half what they are today. But they're worth it to me. All I do is put Red Wing Oil on them and they look just like new again and they're waterproof.
I've worn these in the coldest weather shooting and although they are not lined, the thickness of the leather acts as insulation
and keeps my feet warm when other snow boots don't.

My Father used to own a trucking company and I drove over the road for about eight years. One thing we did was haul hides from
the South St. Paul Stockyards to Red Wing. The Stockyards is now long gone.

They are made in the USA. :D

I have worn Red Wing and Justin Boots all my adult life. Had to wwear soft sole shoes at the hospitals I worked. When I got off, I always put on my boots.

I've been oiling both pair of my Red Wings and the pair that is over 35 years old look almost as good as the 10 year old pair.
They were old and dried out when I started, but now I have to look close to tell them apart. That's quality materials.

Back in the day when I was required to wear steel toed shoes at work the only shoe I could find that was comfortable was the Red Wing. Pricey but my feet loved them.
