And then christmas eve showed up
A nice time... every thing about the holiday is just about to happen. Family and freinds are poised to meet and celibrate the big day...(im one who believes in remembering the true reason for the season) however, in addition to the main importance of the day, its a time to enjoy what blessings we do have, to see loved ones, catch up on what everyone is doing.... sure nuff a time to spread the good will and cheer, that the world (if you watch the news and media in general) appears to have pretty much forgotten can exist. So set back folks, dont get stressed, enjoy and appreciate whats good and share it around. Merry Christmas says this old man from back in the ozark brush......

Re: And then christmas eve showed up
Carol texted our Granddaughter to see if they're coming from Wisconsin and they were already on the road yesterday.
They will stay with her Mother and then all come here on Christmas Eve and then we get to meet our new Great Granddaughter.
Carol started cooking last night and she'll do more today I'm sure. No one will leave hungry. She has the house decorated from
top to bottom.
Christmas is a big deal here.
Merry Christmas to all.

Re: And then christmas eve showed up
We love Christmas traditions. When my Mother passed away there was a large auction for her and my late Brother's belongings.
I was the only surviving heir, and we had to dispose of all their belongings. It was a difficult time. Anyway............
There was an old mahogany dining table with eight chairs, a really nice China cabinet, and an old buffet. None of this was worth much money and would be sold for just a few dollars. I have photos going back over eighty years of my family and relatives all seated around that table eating off my Mother's China. You guessed it, I brought them home.
That was over twenty years ago and since then we have pictures of our family round that table on Christmas Eve as well.
We will all gather around that table again this evening, and after saying Grace, it will be a time of laughing and good food that the children will never forget. All those folks are gone now. In the second photo I am seated beside my Father at the head of the table. Note we were dressed up for dinner. I'm just an old softee.

All good stories. We're just staying home as we've not any relatives left on this good earth (besides my son in Omaha). I've got a few cousins I haven't seen any many, many years. Here's a picture of the family a few years ago at mom's house in Bartlesville, Ok. That's mom and Bob seated. They're both gone now. My wife and I are standing behind them on the left and my cousin Randy and his wife Judy to the right. Randy and Judy live just south of Nashville. Randy was mom's nephew by her sister Mary.

Re: And then christmas eve showed up
This year it’s the Eve we will celebrate. Still have my parents and try to spend as much time as possible with them and my kids together. The big day will be spent at work, we are open 24/7/365.
Re: And then christmas eve showed up
My family background is european so Christmas Eve is as much a celebration as Christmas Day. We do our gift exchange tonight, after a traditional fettuccini alfredo dinner, and then tomorrow is all about the food. We will be making “falsche hase” this year from my recent white tail harvest. Falsche hase is “fake rabbit” which is essentially a fancier meatloaf. It’s often cooked with tinfoil “ears” stuck in it. Very German. We also are down to very few family members left, and a couple of those don’t get on well, so my wife and I are just going to enjoy each other’s company with the dogs.
Merry Christmas to all of you!

Re: And then christmas eve showed up
Everyone is running a little late but we're ready.
The pictures show the table and chairs my Mother purchased from Montgomery Ward in 1946 when Dad came home from the war.
Also her prized China cabinet and China, Sterling, and Crystal settings.
The first picture is of some uninvited beggars looking for a handout at our front door.

That table is wonderful. I like the photographs past and present.
