That is in line with how I've seen them priced locally in Southern California. Out the door around $850 and you are doing OK.

I've enjoyed your photos of the AW .45-70. My favorite colors, and it's a beautiful rifle!
Just a comment on the Grace screwdrivers. I have two sets, and they are excellent tools. Have used them quite a lot on my Henrys and shotguns, too. And USA-Made is a plus for me also!!

Finally put a cartridge sleeve on it tonight. Noticed the extra marking by Henry. Those hollow ground screw drivers are a must for the slotted screws. Really like this set and they are made in the USA!
Look at those wide meplats. looking forward to the range this weekend. Then it's hello Mr. Piggy.

Very handsome rifle. I too will get a AW 45-70, but I'm hoping it will be in a straight stock like the 30-30 version.

Well I've held off posting anything else about this rifle till now. I started getting some brass from fired rounds stuck in the chamber. This was with three different types of off the shelf ammo. The trigger started feeling like it was getting heavier. One brand of ammo started to keyhole at 50 yards. The same ammo from the same box caused no issues or key holing in my other Heny 45-70 in blue / walnut.

I contacted Henry and they told me to send it in. It was three weeks from the day they got it, then yesterday I got a UPS notice that I had a next day air from Henry in Wisconsin.

It showed up today and it was a new replacement AW. Henry said my original rifle I sent in was not repairable.
It was a surprise to get one hot off the line with a inspection date of yesterday.

I'm looking forward to shooting this one. Fit and finish are very nice. I'm so glad Henry stands behind their products and takes care of their customers. It's one reason I buy them.

I don't know, after 42 years I am not sure I want a new one. Some of those "new" models need too much of a break-in period.

Did Henry replace your rifle with the same serial number? I ask because they sent the rifle directly to you, and a different serial number requires the requisite FFL transfer; of course, you may have an FFL license.

Henry replaced a rifle for me and it has a new serial number, different than the first one. There wasn't any paperwork involved other than the shipping invoice, certainly no FFL transfer. I never gave it a second thought. Maybe I should have, but I expected that HRAC would be in compliance with Federal laws and regulations.

The replacement was a different serial number. Henry sent paperwork stating what the old serial number was and what the replacement serial was for my records.

I'm not an lawyer but 27 CFR 478.124 / 478.124 talks about no 4473 form needed for repair or replacement of a firearm when it is returned to the person from whom received.

I'm sure with Henry they would not put themselves or their customers in violation of the law.

They have the best customer service I've ever used.
