Back to an earlier post by LeverJC. Emphasis on going sloooow when working with MIM parts. MIM parts have a hard exterior a few mils thick. Softer interior. If too much exterior metal gets removed the softer interior metal gets exposed and later part wear-out goes much quicker.

Nuetron, I am sorry I missed your post but the spring you have circled is the trigger return spring. There is another small spring below the seer that moves the seer back into place. I am waiting to see about RPP's trigger enhancement package that contains a seer and a lighter return spring. This may be a relatively cheap solution to the Henry's that have rough triggers.

Thanks, LeverJC! Again, that photo helped me a bunch!

I guess I am kinda one of "The Lucky Ones", as far as the trigger pull on my H009G os concerned. My manual Williams trigger scale has it consistently breaking around 3.5 lbs.. Still, I couldn't resist, and have an RPP trigger and spring on my desk right now. I think that kit will go in tomorrow, and hopefully, it'll go down a half-pound or so. We'll see....... :ugeek: I did find a good video about the install of this kit, if it helps anybody, or sheds some light on the subject.......

I would really like to see some better pics of it just out of curiosity. Emailed RPP and they don't sell the trigger return spring separately. I also emailed Henry and they do not use any case-hardened parts in their Big Boys so if you want to touch up the surface of the Hammer engagement you do not have to worry about going through the case hardening.

Hee, hee....... You will still like to see some better pics after looking at these. Couldn't get the right setting on my phone that would show good detail, but not cast a shadow. Anyway, here's an effort at some pics, and I hope it shows the detail you're after......

I dunno know if the pics show it or not. There's a nice little relief slot nanufactured into the sear's engagement ledge. Nice touch. We did a lot of that sorta thing at Boeing, where I retired from as a machinist. The sear's engagement ledge measures out to be around .020", when using my digital calipers. Not the most accurate way to measure, I know, but it's all I have for now.

In the photos you showed above, it looks like the factory sear has a bit longer engagement ledge than the RPP sear has. Just shortening the OEM sear's ledge a small amount would seem to help a bit, I'd think...... Maybe...... I'm sure the geometry of the RPP's sear is probably better than the OEM sear.

Will try to post "comparison pics" a bit later after I get my rifle torn apart...... :o

Okay, hopefully this might help a bit. The RPP sear is on the left, and my OEM is on the right. The Henry sear's ledge measures around .035", while the RPP sear's ledge measures around .020 ".

Again, I apologize for shadows, focus, and such. I'm an even worse photograper than I am a gunsmith/shooter/hunter.

Added in EDIT: I went ahead and installed the RPP sear and spring. My factory trigger was pretty good, at 3.5 lbs.. The RPP parts got the trigger pull down to 3 lbs.. Sometimes a hair under 3 lbs., but mostly the pull scale has it at 3 even. It feels pretty good. I like it. I dunno if the sear, the spring, or the combo dropped it down 1/2 lb..

Thanks, your pics are a lot better than RPP's. I imagine the contact surfaces were machined and polished on the RPP seer. The problem I had with my trigger was the warp from the mim process caused bumps that hooked each other on the contact surfaces of the hammer and seer. The initial pull on my original BBS was almost 8lbs.

Going by the wear marks (and my rifle probably has less than 50 rounds on it's odometer) on the original Henry sear, less than half if it was actually engaging. Only one side of the sear's ledge showed any wear marks. Probably why the pull was only 3.5 lbs..

Just ordered a kit for my H006M.
Will install it in a couple of weeks.
I already have a lightweight hammer spring and trigger is currently at 2.0 pounds, but still has some creep. I hope to eliminate the creep.

I just installed the RPP trigger spring/sear in my BB .45 Colt.
The factory trigger pull averaged 3 lbs. with some creep.
Now it’s 2.5 with no creep.
I really like the feel.

My BB .357 averages 3.5 lbs. with not much creep.
I can either buy another spring/sear from RPP for $51 or…..
…….swap trigger plates between the two rifles, since they are identical.

Good deal on you BB trigger. I wish those were available a couple of years ago, it would have saved me about 12hrs. of work.

My H006M started out sloppy loose, rough, with a 3 pound trigger and a lot of creep.

A couple of weeks ago, I installed a triggershims kit, a 33101 hammerspring, and dosed it with boron nitride dry lubricant. Snugged it up, smoothed it, reduced the pull to 2 pounds average, and maybe helped a bit with the creep. Not bad.

Tonight I installed the RPP sear and reduced return spring. Brought the trigger to an average 1.25 pounds and eliminated the creep. This is just a plinking rifle, but that's too light. I'm gonna bump the pull back up towards 2 pounds and call it a day. All in all, I'm quite pleased with both kits.
