Should I pull the trigger and buy one?

Re: CZ 457 Varmint or Royal
Accuracy is really a toss up between a standard Varmint and the Royal, given how you make out on the CZ barrel lottery.
On the other hand, a Varmint in the MTR version (match chamber) puts accuracy in another class. Very unlikely any standard (non-MTR) CZ could touch it.
As far as class looks and handling and probably down the road value, the Royal wins.

I think I’ll hold out for the MTR. I only stopped at the lgs because I had ten minutes to kill. I may go back and order one.

The Royal is a real beauty with the 20” barrel, and if you plan to carry it around, it is a pound lighter than the others. I think the MTR is butt ugly, but I imagine it shoots like crazy. I would buy the short barrel AT-ONE for its looks and handy length, I think 16” to 17” is fine for general use, and the 20” is better off the bench. I love laminate stocks.
If you are just wanting teeeny tiny groups, buy the MTR. I know nothing about the triggers, I have never even handled a 457 in real life.

Re: CZ 457 Varmint or Royal
John, the 457 triggers are very good, actually much more factory adjustable than the 452s or 455s. I used to have to do mods on the 452 and 455 triggers to get them where I want. Not so on the 457s. Just used the factory supplied adjustments to get them to match quality.
Re: CZ 457 Varmint or Royal
I would say Varmint simply because I do not like the aesthetic of the Royal at all. Of course that has nothing whatsoever with accuracy or precision, only looks but hey, who wants an ugly gun?
Please always remember to never forget, No matter where you go, there you are.
