They came out great.

165 is the done temp. I actually let them cook a little longer and when I checked them again they were at 190.

Thought maybe they might be dry but they were juicy and delicious.

180 for 3 hours

225 for 2 hours in foil.

Back to 180 for 30-60 minutes while spritzing and then finally the last 15-20 minutes with bbq sauce.

I'm happy to report that following the replacement of the auger assembly and electronic control panel our Davy Crockett smoker/grill is proving to be an exceptional .... no big swings in temp .... compared to our former portable smoker, its operation is much quieter .... a major plus is it burns much cleaner so it needs to be cleaned much less often .... the attachments from Pimp My Grill and Green Mountain Grills all work flawlessly ....

since the update above on the 9th, frustration has pretty much been the norm .... Davy's performance has been maddeningly erratic .... the folks at Green Mountain Grills have been great to work with and have proven to be committed to service after the sale .... we are now on our 3rd electronic control ===> https://pellet-stove-parts-4less.com/co ... ill-p-1010 .... the cost of each is around $230, the cost of a new Davy Crockett smoker/grill on Amazon is $359.... along the way I mentioned several times that I believed the Thermal Sensor (picture 1) ===> https://pellet-stove-parts-4less.com/pr ... one-grills# needed to be considered .... apparently its a part that is very dependable so the concentrated on the electronic control .... eventually one of their folks listened and sent a replacement sensor .... it arrived today and after installed, old Davy performed as advertised .... it even brought the Pizza Oven up to over 800 degrees

we are currently camped in South Dakota where two days ago we smoked Baby Back ribs in our Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill for the first time .... in doing so we used our Upper & Lower Sliding PMG Rack System 2 ---> https://pimpmygrill.com/davy-crocket...ystem-2-racks/ that were purchased from Pimp My Grill .... our Smoker/Grill came with a single cooking grate .... as shown below the 2 rack system allows us to smoke 3 racks of Baby Backs and taters at the same time

Im glad you finally got all the grill issues worked out. I know you have had more than your share. My wifes son bought a Traveler per our recommendation before I ever had issues with mine. I hope his does better than ors did. I know I would not ever buy another one.

when our Traveler worked, it really did a good job .... once its auger needed to be replaced, it was over .... it simply isn't designed in a manner that an average person can repair it

late this afternoon we fired Davy up to smoke some boneless chicken breast and bake some taters .... we decided to experiment with the chicken .... all three were seasoned with our SPG .... the one on the left was finished with Old West BBQ Sauce .... the one in the center was marinated in Kikkomon Soy Sauce .... the one on the right in Kikkomon Teriyaki sauce .... all three turned out good .... our favorite was the Old West BBQ Sauce ===> https://www.dakotasbest.biz/product_p/jv1.htm

2 hamburger steaks slow cooked on Davy .... I'm still learning how to use this smoker .... while its works on the same principles as other smokers I've used, it has it own ways

when it comes to regular picnic foods, our small Davy Crockett Smoker/Grill is versatile and can feed a bunch of folks .... as can be seen below, brats and hot dogs on one grate and a pretty good size pan of BBQ baked beans on the other ===> https://greenmountaingrills.com/recipes ... ked-beans/ .... the middle picture shows rendering the bacon used in the beans .... all together it turned out really well :D

I want to state right up front that I have nothing but praise for the Customer Service folks at Green Mountain Grill .... they have gone above and beyond in dealing with continued issues with our Davy Crockett smoker/grill .... as this is being typed they are working out a direct replacement .... considering its Friday afternoon, I really don't anticipate anything taking place until Monday at the earliest

as promised, Green Mountain Grills customer service contacted me late yesterday afternoon .... they had been in touch with their store in Brookings and found that they are sold out of both the Davy Crockett and Trex smokers .... so, arrangements will be made to ship one directly from their warehouse in Oregon .... it would be cheaper for them to ship one to us here in South Dakota than it would to our home in NC so there is some additional motivation for them to take care of it ASAP .... I anticipate hearing more today or (because of the work schedule for the fellow handling it) on this coming Wednesday .... I've requested a Trex model but another Davy Crockett wouldn't be bad at all
