A little unplanned upgrade this morning. Site is working ok it seems.
Spent My Tax Refund
Spent My Tax Refund
After waiting and waiting, I finally got an email from one of my (several) ammo suppliers with .38 and .357 ammo at a reasonable price. Less than $I a round. Spent my tax refund getting several boxes. Both were 158 gr and the .38 was .38+P. Now I can shoot my new Henry X.
I look just like my avatar.
Re: Spent My Tax Refund
I stopped in my LGS today, looking for 30-30. Found none. But, there was a small supply of .38s and .357s. .38s were $30 or $52 a box, brand dependent. And, .357s were $40 or $44 a box, brand dependent as well. I have a few boxes of each. So, I passed. I have a few boxes of 30-30 also. I just seem to shoot 30-30 more often. Therefore, just wanted a couple more boxes on hand. Yet, it does appear that ammo is slowly making its way back to shelves.

Re: Spent My Tax Refund
I haven't seen any 357 ammo in a while, I did see some 38 spl. the other day At Academy, but didn't check the price.
They did have some JSP 240 gr 44's for a............$59.99 a bx. Winchester brand.
Dang 350 Legend is Everywhere ya look. Haven't seen a bx. of 30-30 in a good while either.

Re: Spent My Tax Refund
I recently bought 200 rounds of 243 ammo Winchester Varmint x 58 grain poly tip bullets. Got them off my favorite over priced auction sight. But I think I got a pretty good deal this time. 195.00 for 200 rounds of 243 aint to bad

Re: Spent My Tax Refund
I stopped at a trading post today. Found some 30-30, $48 or $52 a box. Passed on it. Also, there were some .357s at $80 a box. This place also sells tobacco. While I was there, a man purchased 6 boxes of cigarettes. That is probably how it keeps the doors open. A club member told me about this place. He did say that the prices were high. But, I thought it could not be that bad. Clearly, I was wrong.

Reading all of those ammo prices makes me very glad that I started loading my own in 1969 and have several boxes on hand of all the calibers that I shoot.

Re: Spent My Tax Refund
Congrats, I found some online also, but not much. Tax refund, lucky you. I had to pay!

Well, I didn't start that far back.
But sure glad I did take the plunge some 15 or so years ago.
Especially in times like now.

Re: Spent My Tax Refund
30-30 has been the hardest to find. Target Sports USA sent me a "back in stock" email but the price was outrageous. Believe it or not Walmart has. been a lucky stop for it.GFK wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 6:40 pmI stopped in my LGS today, looking for 30-30. Found none. Re: Spent My Tax Refund
I was raised a POOR child. I got started reloading in 1970. Money came by hard work and spent way too fast. I was baling hay, mowing old ladies yards and any other pick up jobs. I was able to buy my 1st deer rifle, Rem 700, in .270 Win. The cost of ammo was about what it took to fill my '64 Chevy short narrow bed P/U. It only had a six cylinder 230 some odd engine. I drove it for 14 years and 4 rebuilt engines, several used transmissions and clutches, and a couple of rear ends.
