New option for big boy x models
New option for big boy x models
It seems my calling campaign and email barrages have paid off. (i am sure i am not the only one.) Henry now has a replacement stock set for the x models.
Re: New option for big boy x models
Cool. Glad you got results. Looking forward to seeing it.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Re: New option for big boy x models
Well that is nice for Henry to do!
Re: New option for big boy x models
It isn't a cheap option about 150 bucks plus shipping. Though I would have easily paid that 150 more originally if given the choice for a wood-stocked variant over the plastic. I understand the concept of the plastic stocks and had it been like the Houge over-mold 10/22 stocks i wouldn't change it. It isn't though, it's not up to the snuff of the rest of the rifle, and IMHO it detracts from the quality of the gun. That is save for the butt pad. Both of them are marvelous.
Re: New option for big boy x models
$150 isn't that much, imo. About 3 tanks of gas in my jeep.
Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes is rapidly becoming a reality (11/2023). Para Bellum.
Re: New option for big boy x models
so here is the first part of the kit. I am still waiting on the end caps.

Very nice and good on you for wanting the wood instead of plastic.
Re: New option for big boy x models
The Henry checkering pattern is so well done and it identifies a Henry from a distance nicely. Kinda like the Marlin Bullseye but better in my opinion. Love those wood stocks.

Re: New option for big boy x models
Those do look nice. End caps coming from Henry also?
Re: New option for big boy x models
Excellent! That adds a a lot to the appearance. Henry makes some great looking stocks.

Paul,
That is an understatement. The plastic ones are heftier than i thought, but in no way do they ad anything to the rifle. IMHO they are only a detractant. Apparently enough folks think the way i do, that Henry is now making this specific item set a purchase option on their website.
Stock, Forend, End cap.
a month ago you had to buy the stock from one rifle, the forend from another, and the cap all separately. I passed because i wanted to pick up the 357.
When i called back they said, we have a kit now, and it will be on the website soon, or you can jump through a couple of hoops to get it all to you.
I jumped.

Re: New option for big boy x models
Does the composite furniture effect the rifle performance over the wood?
Re: New option for big boy x models
If it wasnt all sweat and humidity here in va i would be able to test it out. I doubt it other than looking horrible and being slicker than snot
Re: New option for big boy x models
DsGrouse - thanks for the heads up on the wood furniture. I ordered on a Thursday and had the parts by Saturday - talk about fast service.
Fairly easy swap with a few hints from youtube. I'm ready to ditch the red dot, rail, fiber optic sights, and nylon sling for a more traditional look with a front brass bead sight, rear buckhorn or peep sight, and a nice leather sling. Might even shave down the barrel thread and get rid of the thread protector since I have no plans to hang a suppressor off the end. Now my H012X looks as good as it shoots!

All i can say is try it with a can. recoil is 30% less. and sound is at least 50% less. It makes shooting a crazy amount of fun.
Re: New option for big boy x models
So it is for looks not for functionality from what I'm gathering reading this.

Re: New option for big boy x models
Is any fitting necessary, or is it just unscrew plastic parts, screw on wood parts?
Re: New option for big boy x models
you have to tap out the dove tail and then back in.
