Actually, thinking back, my favorite coffee was the Dunkin Donuts coffee I'd get on midnite patrol shifts around four or five a.m.... My butt was usually dragging and I'd slip in and talk with the counter staff, pick up a large coffee, to recharge my batteries. We all tried to slip thru off and on thru the night, kept things quiet. I avoided the donuts, didn't want to go up in body armor size. On really cold nights I liked their soup though. . Went good with my sandwiches Tina would make for me.

After years of drinking Folgers Classic we recently switched to Folgers Black Silk upon the advice of a few on this site. Really like the difference as the Black Silk is a darker roast. We (mostly me) go thru 3 10 cup pots per day. I like mine black and my wife adds General Mills International coffee mix in the Cafe Francais flavor to hers as a creamer. Hmmm coffee on coffee, gotta like that.

Dunkin donuts is my usual go to.

Bridgeport coffee roasts their own beans in house. They have flavors named after Chicago history and landmarks such as bubbly creek, etc.

When I'm in Iowa, Minnesota, I choose dunn brothers coffee. Another in house roaster, they have a medium roast I believe from Guatemala that is woman owned that is awesome!

In Eu Claire Wisconsin there is a little place called the coffee grounds. Another in house roastery. If you can try the highland grogg and or snikerdoodle. I have given the latter out as Christmas presents!

Last but not least, if you're ever in Chicago and so happen to be in Pilsen, (where I grew up) let me know! I'll take you to the jumping bean cafe! They have a yummy house blend that is a bottomless cup and yummy sandwiches.

One almost slipped my mind intelligentsia coffee is pretty good too.
I like to grind my beans with either 1/2 a cinnamon stick, or some cacao nibs. Maybe both.

My brother BIL has one of those fancy grinders that grinds it then makes a cup of coffee. I dont know what he paid for it but my sister said it was alot. Ill put my 20.00 5 cup black and decker coffee maker up against his with 8 Oclock coffee in it any time.

Well..today I broke down and bought myself a new Mr. Coffee maker. Getting prepared to transition back to the real stuff instead of the cold Frappacino. Pulled out my old coffee maker only to find it was scaled badly. Attempted to run white vinegar through it to clean it, then realized it had a bad leak. Cleaning time wasted. Trip to WW for the new one. Bought a small bag of Duncan coffee to try for starters. I like 1/2 & 1/2 in my coffee, which I forgot to p/u. Went to two different grocery stores only to find that they were both out of non-flavored cream. IS THERE A 1/2 & 1/2 SHORTAGE NOW!
Oh well, more Frappacino tomorrow and then out to check a couple more stores. Gosh, what a man will do for a caffeine fix.
Will just use milk if I fail.

It is, and if you like a darker roast, a Columbian or an Indonesian light roast will get you there. Kenyan/Ethiopian are also good choices.

To put this in perspective, we have been customers since 2007, and get 2lbs of Gueatemaland light and 2lbs of Papua New Guinea every 6 weeks. When I run out, I try other brands. Folders, cafe du monde Sanka, Bustelo, Chickory, illy, green mountain, Oregon and Washington regional rosters, CT and long island roasters, A half dozen rosters around here in VA. They do not compare.

I just signed up for the free 1lb deal which gives me 3 weeks to decide if I want to continue the shipments. Ordered it ground, if I decide to continue I will get a decent grinder so I can order whole beans.

I'll never become a wine or whisky connoisseur, I only like a sweet wine and don't really care for straight whisky (I do like some whiskey liqueurs like Fireball). Maybe I can become a coffee connoisseur.

Be careful about making coffee in a french press, or using the permanent filters as well. Neither of these processes remove the cafestol in coffee. This chemical which is natural in the coffee can raise cholesterol levels in the body. I was using a french press for a while, and my cholesterol shot up. I switched back to paper filtering and it went back down.

Yes, a french press makes great tasting coffee, but I want to be around a while longer to enjoy it.

My wife and I enjoy Black Rifle brand coffee. They make a few different varieties and are also 2nd Amendment supporters. We get it at Bass Pro.

So my coffee order from Camano just sent me a notice; my order was roasted on the 6th, shipped, and will be here tomorrow on the 8th.|

They are using fedex now, and I will get the order two day shipping as opposed to their past shipping via USPS, which got it to me in VA in seven days.

We like the roast called "Just Black." My wife, who is a coffee connoisseur, will buy no other coffee.

Just made a cup of Papua New Guinea and its definitely better than my Costco coffee. Drank some black and they are right, none of the bitterness that I taste when drinking other coffee black. Added a lot less of my flavored creamer and I like it even though it's not nearly as sweet as usual. I'm sure I will try at least one 2lb order.

Do you use a paper filter? I used a stainless steel screen k-cup adapter and read an article that said the oils and micro-grounds that a paper filter won't let through add a lot to the taste. It definitely looks different, a little cloudy.

I'd better stop now, don't want to be a coffee snob.

In the french press i did not use a paper filter, now in my zojirushi i do use a paper filter as cleaning out the basket is a pain.

I am a coffee snob, and i dont notice a difference in taste between either way

I may order some of the little filters for reusable k cup pods, they're pretty cheap, $17 for 300. Would make clean up a little easier. Need to get a burr grinder too, need to find a decent one for reasonable price. Solofill has this one that will grind directly into your pod, comes with a pod for $40.
