Looking for an Axe for a friend

I like Henry's, but a .410 is not my choice for an HD shotgun. Ammo is just as expensive, or more so, than 12 or 20 gauge and doesn't come close in performance, if you can find it at all. There are more suitable and less expensive choices to fill the HD role.

That's what I was thinking too. Unless you're really set on the Henry you can get a Shockwave for ⅓ the price of the Axe.

Also if he's really wanting it for home defense the Shockwave is probably easier to accessorize for not a lot of extra$$.
I put on a decent light and extra shell holder for not a lot, probably less than a $100. Didn't need the picatinny rail but it's part of the shell holder and you could use it to mount a laser, I got mine with the factory laser but it is available separately from CrimsonTrace.

Also the Shockwave is available in 410, 20 and 12 gauge, I believe the Axe is only available in 410.

And the chunk-chuck of chambering a round in a pump shotgun is enough to scare off some intruders.

I'm in favor of the 20 Guage myself. My friend is not gun savvy. That looks like the best for the money and experience.

I have the 12g shockwave. Swapped the foregrip for the TL Racker which contains a 1000 lumen light. Added a short rail to the top using the factory supplied tapped holes. Added a red dot. Perfect HD setup and night time coyote raiding the coop gun. Miss Tina easily handles the recoil of #4 shot and buck.

The shockwave is short, just over 26", and easily to maneuver around the house or in and out of the various vehicles around the farm. If fits especially well in the closed cabin of the Ranger we use to run around the pasture checking fences and to the various farm buildings. The shotgun (not a shotgun) fits right in the space behind the seat cushions and under the backrests.

To increase the effectiveness, I added the TL Racker replacement foregrip with it's built in light from Streamlight. BRIGHT, it'll light up the entire side yard. The swap took just a few minutes, but I would advise buying the forearm NUT wrench to make the task easy as pie. About $15. You can see the SIG red dot I had laying around mounted on the top rail I got from Amazon. It makes sighting at night simple. Turn on the light, float the dot and Boom. (I might consider replacing the red dot with a laser at a later date.)

I agree but they are expensive. A friend has a lever action 410 made by Marlin. I covet that rifle.
He won't sell it though.
410 ammo is really hard to come by these days.

I had a Winchester 9410 which was one of my favorites. I promised my friend in Texas he could pick any rifle , pistol and shotgun before I started selling. He chose my No 5 Jungle Carbine which I’ve had since I was 16, an 1895 Nagant pistol made in 1943 and and my 9410. Now I have a couple thousand 410 shots and slugs and nothing to make them go bang.
