Range Report: blast bottles

I threw three blast bottles out into the snow which is covered with glare ice. One stuck in the snow but the other two went rolling down the hill. The blue one is too close, the magenta one is about right at 32 yards and the yellow one is barely visible further out and to the left at 58 yards. One shot at the magenta and it’s now down with the yellow one. I can’t wait for the snow to clear so I can hang them proper. That would make this a lot funnier. I was shooting a Henry with peeps and a globe. I’m going to get out a 10/22 which is scoped next.

I shot the Ruger a few minutes ago. It’s a Pre-Warning Finger-Groove Sporter. I shot it kneeling and since it’s a semi-auto I was able to shoot again while the bottle was still rolling and hit it.

I like shooting off the front deck. I can step out and get a few shots off in seconds then step back inside to warm up.

I’ve been told the seasonal ice age ends about the first week of April.

I ended up keeping most of my 10/22’s. The ones I sold were all newer.

I do have a preference for older Rugers, too. I think it was a different company back in those days. Nothing against the current company. Just a sentimental thing for me, since I pretty much got my start shooting Ruger handguns.

Now that I’m settled I wish I had some of my firearms back. I need to get a safe when the thaw comes.

The bottles I threw out are buried in the fresh overnight snow. That is why I want to hang them. The spinners and traps are too close to shoot comfortable. They need to be put out at about 10 to 25 yards.
