Range Report: paper targets with rimfire

Post by Sir Henry » Fri Mar 04, 2022 2:18 pm

I shot paper targets offhand today using my new pistol centerfire bullet traps. It doesn’t appear the HV .22LR made it all the way through the rubber backing. The 50 yard targets makes my 15 yard shooting appear to be better than I actually shot. The 7-ring is 4” across so my group was slightly less than 4”s.

I set it beside my rimfire spinner.

I made an account measure of the distance this time rather than just guessing. I only make 10 shots and now have to get back to work. It’s really nice not having to go anywhere to shoot.

A shooting area out your front or back door can't be beat. You've got a great place there and I know you will put it to good use. :D

Thanks. I think my shooting has improved by being able to shoot like this. Before it was a 20 mile drive out and back, plus all the hassle of making sure I didn’t forget anything. By the time I was at the range I was so worked up to do my best that I often wouldn’t. Now I just walk two feet out my front door for BB’s or pellets or 50 feet for rimfire. It’s no big deal and if I shoot poorly I do something else for a half hour and try again. I did this in Woodinville and found I could shoot my best far more often.

Two summers ago I amazed myself at how good I became after shooting multiple times daily for several months.

Looking good, Gene. Off to a good start in your new place, already. Shooting is a great way to settle in with a new place.

No and I snowshoed around looking for them. Not. I did venture further from the road and was checking out other spots for ranges.

This is from the top of the hill above the house looking towards the school house and old house. The school is 293 yards from my front deck and the old house is 413. I can’t shoot towards the school but I can to the left of the house. That is if I owned the property.

Lots of practice does make a real difference in nearly anything a fella does. Being able to do it right at home makes that much more feasible. Plink plink plink away!!!!! 👍

It was a hard decision to sell and be homeless for a period that I didn’t know how long. A harder decision to buy sight unseen but I am in heaven and left the hell of Seattle. I saw on the news yesterday some of the things that are happening there now and it reinforced my decision as being the right one.

Plinking on paper is a far better life than fearing my home would be burnt down. Arson is arson and doing it for political reasons does not make it free speech.
