The Curse of Oak Island

I got busy watching the recent election results and missed Oak Island's season opener .... just finished watching the complete episode .... one of the things I really enjoy about the show is the introduction of new technology and equipment .... at the end of last season they found traces of silver suspended in water in some of their drill holes .... since then they have found a company with equipment to detect gold and ran test on those wells .... the test did find traces of gold in some of the same shafts .... they are now getting read to drill a 10' diameter hole at the most promising location .... that canister is going to proved them with the largest diameter hole that they have ever drilled .... several other new areas of search have also surfaced .... looks like it could be another interesting season

another interesting episode .... their core drilling in the Money Pit, they finally brought to the surface a metal object that tested to have gold in/on it .... the wood around the metal object dated from 1488 to 1650 ....

talk about huge equipment, the canister they setup tonight certainly fits the bill .... looking forward to seeing it in action

Season 10 Episode 1 airs from 9 to 11PM on Tues 11/15 on the History .... can't help but wonder what potentially significant discoveries they will make ....

Gary appears to have outdone himself .... the copper relic he found is interesting .... we find the scientific instruments they use to test stuff to really be interesting

we continue to be fascinated with the various scientific test equipment and outside specialists they are using .... finding proof of traces of gold in an old tunnel timber seems to us to be a pretty strong indicator .... while they are still looking at several other areas, they are homing in on the area around the "Garden Shaft" ....

after taking some time away from watching Oak Island during the ACC Basketball Tournament, I caught back up tonight ..... as noted above, I never cease to be fascinated by the high tech lab equipment that they have .... they have come a long way but some of that trip involves walking in a circle .... their lab testing is showing stronger concentrations of gold and silver .... the Knights Templar are once again under consideration as being the original depositors .... looking forward to next week

in tonight's season 10, episode 20 they continue to follow their very successful program format ..... "Potentially Important" finds that create more questions than answer ..... I'm not sure how many more episodes will be in season 10 .... they continue to find traces of gold and silver that weren't put there by Mother Nature .... the number of clues related to the Knight's Templar having something to do with whatever treasure may be there

SEASON 11 ....

the first episode of season 11 slipped right by me when it aired Nov. 7th .... this year's series is presented pretty in pretty much the same format as those gone by .... lots of hope and hype that may prove something

we were able to find and watch the new season's first episode .... as usual, some of the content was spent reviewing the season 10 finale and going over new, high tech, equipment .... must say, we found the new equipment to be fascinating .... Gary picked up right where he left off by finding 4 very old coins, 2 Roman, 1 Tudor English and 1 very old one from India .... they continued drilling near the Garden Shaft and have isolated a location for a major dig .... the weather during the filming of episode 1 was pretty rough but they didn't seem to let it slow them down

there were several interesting things in last night's Episode 2 .... first was the determination that 2 of the coins mentioned above dated 2000 years to BC .... the new equipment they have on site is fascinating .... one can show what an item encrusted with hundreds of mud, rocks and gunk can show what it is .... they have also begin work on a site that wasn't known until last last season .... finding a previously unknown tunnel about 100' down in the Money Pit is going to get some serious attention ....

not yet .. .. they are still digging and the scientific instruments they are using are most impressive .... their crew of specialists in various fields has grown, they must have one heck of a payroll

Who would have thought that this program was going to turn into what it has? There are a few spin-offs, and for the families involved, seems to have turned into the "family business" being passed on to the next generation. From that perspective, the worst thing that could happen is that they find the treasure and solve the puzzles.

we've enjoyed following it .... in the early days we figured that they would either find or find there was nothing there .... if we were to have placed a bet we would have gone with nothing there .... since then I've really enjoyed following the scientific equipment they use .... we've also come to enjoy following some of the long time cast members

I remember reading the original Reader's Digest article at someone's house when I was a kid. It kinda hooked me then, and really enjoyed the shows for a few seasons, but it's turned into the never-ending quest now, so it's starting to feel like I can pick up on it next season and be fine.

As for treasure, it seems that the Samuel Ball landowner from a century ago became quite rich without any good justification, so he probably found a lot of what was there to find, and kept his mouth shut. A wise man. I'm guessing that there were more than a few wise men like that through the years.

There are still a great many unanswered questions too. The wharf or whatever all that wooden structure was that they uncovered in the cove is still a giant question mark. That isn't some legend or theory, they drained the water, dug a little and found all that. Those things intrigue me. I don't see pirates spending months or years building stuff like that, and if the hiding of valuables by some other group was a one-time effort, those structures wouldn't exist either. I can envision the rocks that they call "roads" may be the result of storms, but there is no denying the manmade structures with logs shaped to fit together, some still in those intended structural positions.

I never cease to be amazed at the sized of the timbers (scientifically dated to be hundreds of years old) that they bring out of the ground .... last year they found Roman coins and other items that defy imagination .... we are looking forward to the season, they may not find anything major but we sure hope they do
