Re: New Year's Day Meal
Slow cooking Italian sausage that is heavy on the garlic. Adding my homemade sauce to it in a bit then putting it on low slow for another 4 hour.
But Jim’s traditional southern meal sounds great. I may have to start driving in his direction with my plate and fork.

Re: New Year's Day Meal
Our usual traditional meal is baked ham, blackeye peas and cabbage, but this year we are going with fried chicken strips, potato salad and pork and beans.

Re: New Year's Day Meal
For lunch I rode over to a small country store about 5 miles away. They cook 3 meals a day, always good.
I had hog jowl, mashed taters, cabbage, black eyed peas, with a piece of cornbread and a glass of sweet tea.
Got steaks on the grill at the moment and the wife is fixin some fries, will wash it all down with a cold brew.

Re: New Year's Day Meal
We don't have a "traditional" new years day meal, it's what ever I decide to cook. Today it was steamed broccoli, baked potatoes, sautéed mushrooms & onions over Filet Mignon and some pumpernickel rolls.
It were yummy

Haven’t thought about tonight but last night we had grilled New York steaks, baked potatoes, salad and apple turnovers with vanilla ice cream for desert.

Red beans, rice, & ham. Corn bread. My wife cooked this from scratch every Jan1st for 50 years. Unfortunately, I don't have her cooking skills and it's just me now, so I do the best I can with Zatarains beans and rice mix.
