After many years of endless commercials, reruns, outright garbage, and talking heads I decided to pull the plug on TV. Called Dish and told them they were Cancelled. They tried to bribe me with free pay per view, or price reduction, but to no avail. This saves me a bunch of money that I can use for the other things that Tom sings about. I feel better already.

Haven't heard that tune in awhile, but I do believe Tom T. Hall hit the nail on the head.

Yeah me to. Been listening to his entire playlist on youtube all afternoon.
One that may not have been as popular is:

Congrats Gene I did that about a year ago and bought a Roku. I also bought a Amazon firestick. I like the Roku better. In our current location here in Texas the internet is great so the Roku is great. So which of these are you after younger women older whiskey or more money.

Pulled the plug on my tv about 8 years ago. Haven't missed it. Watch the occasional movie on Amazon but that's it. I have plenty of other things to do, while listening to good music.

Well, I've done the younger women, older whiskey, but not the faster horses.
Got that to do yet.
Tell you what, they all cost a lot of money.

Just put up an antenna. My wife and I got rid of the cable TV as it was costing us more than we could afford. A few bucks for an outdoor antenna and we get just as good picture quality.

We moved from ct to va and didnt have dish or cable for two years. The kids didnt care at first. We got dish, suffered through nearly 3 years of having nothing to watch. I canceled it again a couple years ago.
We dont have netflix, romu, apple tv. We have prime but only use it for music.
Welcome to the no-bs club.

My favorite advice from Tom T?
If you can't move it, paint it.
If it has a switchblade knife?
Salute it.

Since my wife passed away in Sept. I've been working on simplifying my life. Dish TV was one of several things I have no further use for. She had several other on-line acct's/subscriptions that I've also cancelled from TV Guide to Amazon, book clubs, & various others that she had. Still have to deal with the IRS this tax season (change withholding, etc.).

I would like to cancel our dish TV but my wife is a Hallmark fanatic. I'm sick of listening to Christmas movies.

We cancelled direct tv several years ago after they kept bumping the price or changing the makeup of the packs every few months, forcing you to go up one level to keep CMT or TBS or FX. You would add fifty channels when you did, but most were unwatchable for us. Finally called them and said, "Back to our basic package with the original channels for $39 a month, or cancel." They said they couldn't do that. I told them to cancel. They started pulling options out of their butts, but they were all limited time deals . CANCEL. They did. We STILL get postcards: We Miss You, please come back.
