The VA gave me an eye exam recently and I complained about having to constantly switch from distance to reading glasses. The eye doc said "let's fix that" These arrived a few days ago and are the greatest thing since Shania Twain... The real test is this weekends pistol shoot

I've had them for years and love them. And no, Shania is still the greatest.

I tried progressive lenses back when I started loosing my close up vision and I hated them, to narrow a view for the close up part. Went to lined bi-focals and liked them a lot more. That was many years ago, maybe they're better now?

When I shoot pistol I look through the long distance part of the lens and focus on the target, If I look at the front sight through the close up part of my lenses the target is way too blurry. May be different with progressive lenses.

tried them a few years back .... guess I've simply had traditional ones too long .... I couldn't handle the progressive lenses

I tried tri-focals once and don't know how you ever get used to them, was constantly bobbing my head up and down to line up the middle section with what I wanted to see.

I’ve worn contact lenses since I was a teenager and for the last 20 years I’ve worn multi-focal contact lenses. I rarely wear glasses but the ones I do have, have progressive lenses.

I tried both hard and soft contacts. Wore the soft ones for several weeks and just couldn't get used to them, they weren't terrible but it just always felt like I had something irritating in my eyes.

Wouldn't mind having cataract surgery for the corrective lenses they put in but while I do have cataracts, my eye doctor (whose specialty is cataract surgery) says they aren't nearly bad enough for surgery yet.

I've had progressives for a couple years. I have a love/hate relationship with them. I really like the ability to see clearly in the mid range. I don't like the fact that you have to look directly at something, even in the distance to get a sharp image. For example, when driving, I cannot just shift my eyes, or shift my head slightly to the left at a stop sign to see if a car is coming. I have to turn my head completely to the left in order to get a sharp look at the coming traffic.

I just got the second pair earlier this year. Since my prescription changed to a stronger diopter, the issues I have a problem with are worse. I have to tilt my head slightly downward to get a sharp image in the distance, even looking straight on. I've gotten used to them, but not sure if I will stick with progressive next time around.

They are a plus at the range. I have to play around a little with the position of my head, but can get a nice sharp image of the front sight when shooting. I used to keep a pair of reading glasses in my range bag. I would buy a pair that allowed me to easily focus on the front sight distance. Now I don't have to fool with that.

I tried the progressive lenses but they made me nauseous. Went back to the lined trifocals. I have been wearing them so long that I am comfortable with them.

I have been wearing progressives for a few years now. Did not like them at first. They do take some getting used to for the same reasons that Clovis mentioned. I have gotten used to them though, and will stay with them.
