Pinball taking up my afternoons.....

Post by fortyshooter » Thu Dec 09, 2021 5:06 pm

My neighbor down the street traded a spare Muncie 4 spd. trans for a restored 1970 pinball machine couple weeks ago and if not at home or at the range property that seems to be my hang out. When the special flag is up and his 1966 427 Chevy Biscayne is out the garage in the driveway we are gathered....4 or 5 of us... having fun with the pinball. Highest score so far is 82,000 from one of the guys. He wants to sell the Chevy to make room for another machine and old jukebox.

I have a Bally Flip Flop that I purchased 35 years ago. I'm in the process of rebuilding it now.
The kids wore it out. :(

I'm a Pinball fan from way back. It was a big part of my kid hood. I've got an old Gottlieb. Wouldn't mind having 2 or 3 more. Would like a Juke Box as well. I have plenty of 45's to fill it, lol.

Along with the Bally Flip Flop I also have a Seeburg Juke Box. Yup, the Happy Days one. :D

We have this place right here in town.

https://appalachianpinballmuseum.com

It's not just a museum either. You pay to play and they even sell beer. About 80 machines.

Back in the 60s my dad built 2-6 lane slot car tracks and 2 drag tracks. We also had 25 pin ball machines, 20 pool tables and the first 15 cent hamburger in town with a juke box and dance floor. Very shortly another slot car place opened up a block and a half away and 4 doors down a business with pinball and pool tables, and then someone opened the drive through with 15 cent burgers. Everyone but the burger joint went belly up in about 3 years. Ours was all family run so I spent way too much time there and grew tired of everything very quickly.

Not much pinball today as we were working on his 1950's Coke machine that got hung up.

When I was playing back in the '60's it was 10 Cents a play and 3 for a Quarter. I believe the Juke Box was the same and the "rich" kids would drop some change in the Juke Box first. Even though they got to pick it, we all got to hear it though, lol. Some of the older machines from the 50's still were only 5 Cents, although we preferred the "newer" machines. If I was having a good day, I would spring for a quarter's worth, try to win a couple and may even "Match" one or two. They rest of the time, we would just watch everyone else play. If the place got too rowdy and the owner saw that we weren't playing, we would then get thrown out, lol. The good 'ol days.
