You get compensated at a flat rate. You are expected to pay for meals, room, etc out of that. So, if you stay in a cheapie motel, with people partying all night around you and drunks fighting in the parking lot, you could actually make a few bucks...

However... I'm too old to play those games, and don't trust leaving my truck in those parking lots. Pay a bit more and actually sleep the night before. Not have your vehicle damaged. Makes sense to me.

Took about three weeks to get the check after the last trip.

I did Federal Jury a few years back and it didn't take long. The guy was a drug dealer and he plea bargained
as soon as he say the jury. Good luck.

I've been called about 5 times in the last 25 years. 3/5 times I called the listed number the night before and was told I wasn't needed.

One time I went and was released after the first day

The one time I did sit in on a trial, it lasted 1-1/2 days. The prosecutor really failed to prove any laws were broken much les the fact that defendant was guilty of much more than "mopery" (being a mope).

Interesting timing though as I was summoned to Jury duty next week. The summons only mentions Tuesday, certainly not any mention of 3 months.

Here you are in the pool for three months. If you are actually seated, you are then exempt for two years.

In Michigan you are in the pool for one month. I was in last year and got called but the trial was canceled while we were sitting in the courtroom. Got called 4 days later and seated for 1-1/2 days then my obligation is over until the next year.

I emailed the Jury Supervisor, and reminded him of my Service in the Eastern District Court, told him I would be happy to serve in the Eastern District Court again, however it appeared that the access in the Western District Court would be difficult for me at this time as my left hand still was not functioning fully and I would not be able to brake nor push my chair well in the city. May not be safe. He exempted me from the trial and said he would put me in the pool for a possible trial in the Eastern District, in which I told him I would be happy to serve due to the excellent access and parking right at the ramp in front of their courthouse. He actually said he appreciates my cooperation and willingness to serve.
