Your 357 results look like my 41 mag results with 2400. Hornady 210 xtp.

Yahoo, yesterday I traded a guy a pound of Unique (I had two) for a pound of 2400. I saved 38 bullets to try so soon I’ll load up some with the 2400 and see how they compare with my H110 loads.

I looked at the Unique data and it looks like when loaded with the 210 XTP’s I would loose 400 +/- FPS. Not a big deal as I don’t plan to hunt this rifle so I may load up a few and see what happens.

Im betting you will find 17.5 and 18 grains the best place to be.

Well after way too long I finally got the 41 mag Henry back to the range to try the 2400 powder BigAl52 recommended. The results are promising as all groups are slightly better than my H110 loads. Pretty incredible that the lowest velocity load shot a one hole group. As the speed increased the groups opened up somewhat but not too bad. This is exactly what I experienced with my .357 Big Boy with the lowest velocity shooting the best group, again a one holer’. I’m sure the shooter had something to do with the bigger groups.

I also finally got around to making first shots with my Ruger 22/45 Target and my Ruger Single Seven .327 Fed. Mag. I was able to sight in both at 10 yards but was not able to do further work. My neighbor was with me and he had back surgery earlier this year and was starting to hurt a bit so we headed home. I only shot CCI Mini Mags HP’s in the 22. In the Single Seven I shot .32 H&R mags, .327 85 grain, and the mighty thumper the Federal .327 100 grain. The first two were pleasant to shoot in this lightweight revolver but the 100’s are painful. I’ll save those for the Henry. Later I’ll take the 22 back to the range and shoot a variety of ammo for group but regardless, I was very pleased with the results of the Mini-Mags. I’m all set up to load 32 H&R Mags so I’ll do some group work with it another time. I’m thinking shooting the .32’s in the Single Seven is going to make me giggle just like .357 in a Henry does.

Five shot groups from a bench at 50 yards. 7X scope for the old man shooter’s eyes.

Hatch, that 17.7/2400 group is outstanding! I'd lock that one up and call it a day. Good shooting all the way around.

Yeah, I hate 2400, think I’ll pour it out on the garden. Oh wait, I don’t have a garden.

Up next I’m going to develop a load for 32 H&R Mag and a local guy said he had great results with 2400 and XTP’s in a Single Six. Interesting thing is the Hornady Manual doesn’t list 2400 for the 32 H&R. More to follow.

Thanks for the tip on using 2400 for the 41. Never used it before for anything.

My pleasure for sure. I know some guys swear by H-110 and 296. I have never had any luck with those powders at all. Im not bashing those 2 powders at all. For people that have had luck with it I think thats great. It just hasnt been me.
