1911 day
1911 day
Visited my cousin today for his 60th birthday and he's never fired a 1911 before (blasphemy) we fired a few hundred reloads of 230 ball and he is hooked.. afterwards steak on the grill and a cold brew . The Armscor Citadel ran flawless as always.

Something about shooting a 1911 I jus don't feel with other guns. A lot of fun.

Re: 1911 day
I love my 1911s for some reason.
Ooh Rah.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Re: 1911 day
Armscor does make a very nice 1911. And leverjc is right, there's just something neat about shooting 1911's. May have to take mine out next desert trip. Glad you guys had a good day Oldbrass.
Re: 1911 day
Thanks for the reminder. Time for 1911 carry again with the heavier clothes. You are right, nothing like shooting a 1911.
Re: 1911 day
There's a reason why the USMC Pistol Expert Badge still has a pair of 1911's instead of whatever the current issue pistol is.

Some history of this and other USMC marksmanship badges here:
https://archive.org/details/USMarineCor ... 5/mode/2up
The USMC officially adopted the 1911 pistol in 1913, and it (and the a1 )became inextricably entwined with USMC history ever since then. So a Marine who wears that badge is also carrying over 100 years of history on his(or her) chest.
Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes is rapidly becoming a reality (11/2023). Para Bellum.

Yep - I love shooting the 1911. Probably shoot it better than my other pistols. Smooth, pointable - just fits well in the hand.
Re: 1911 day
I love my 1911, it’s just a pleasure to shoot. In the spirit of total disclosure mine is a 9mm. I have had a Colt Series 70 in 45 acp but I like firearms that are slightly off the norm.
i do have a Smith & Wesson 4506 to scratch the 45 acp itch. My son’s buddy took these pictures, he’s an accomplished amateur photographer and did a great job capturing the ejecting case.
