Was in Wally World today

Post by clovishound » Tue Sep 13, 2016 7:23 pm

and saw a Henry Big Boy in .44 proudly displayed in the case. I just had to stop and ogle it for a while. They had it for less than I paid for my BB steel at a local gun store. Of course, I prefer the steel. Not as pretty, but feels better to me in the hand.

They also had an Eagle Scout model on the other side of the case.

Wally World usually has very competitive prices for their firearms and ammo. I picked up a Golden Boy 22LR at Wally World 2 months ago for $399 - about $150 less than the LGS where I usually buy. The downside is the people behind the counter usually don't know much about guns, you have to put up with some of their silly rules (i.e. can't cycle the action because the lever was tie wrapped, a manager has to carry the gun out to the parking lot, etc.) and they don't always have a huge selection - i.e. no handguns.

As an Australian, when I hear about Wally World, I think about Chevy Chase holding John Candy at gunpoint while riding a roller coaster. Not to mention a giant moose. Seems weird imagining it as a shop.

Wally World is our nick name for the Walmart chain stores.

We have an Academy Sports. It's across the street from Gander Mountain. ANY gun is $30 to $150 less at Academy than Gander. It looks like Walmart is right at that Academy price level, maybe a little cheaper still.

Once at the walmart by me I got 100rds of the Win 9mm. The kind says, "just pay for them up front". :?

The crazy thing is, the only other thing I was picking up was a 12pk of Miller Lite. The cashier got a laugh out of it................

Our Wal-Mart's here don't have guns, just a poor selection of ammo. Lots of 30-30 but not much else.

Well, here is irony. When I bought my H001 at Wally World (Walmart for you down unders), the manager had to carry it out to the parking lot for me. They couldn't trust me to carry a boxed, unloaded .22 rifle through the store. The entire time I was carrying with a permit. They even knew I had a carry permit, as I used it to expedite the paperwork. One size fits all rules.

Carrying the gun to the exit is standard operating procedure for the chain stores like Walmart or Academy. Just be glad they still carry firearms to sell.

Sign of the times here at the Lebanon, TN , Wally World. Back in Feb., a tornado wiped out the sporting goods section, took several weeks to get it back, and long guns back on the shelves. A few days later they were all gone, ammo included.
Asked the clerk what happened, he said due to all the looting,
they locked them up elsewhere, to avoid looters raiding it.
Suffice it to say, I'm dang tired of this crap.
I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Walmart has discontinued all guns in pistol caliber our local had a golden boy in 357-38 marked down to $650 it sold 😊. Don’t know if any other stores have any left might be worthwhile to check out

You're going to love that rifle. I have one, too. Congratulations -- and welcome to the forum from CT.

Welcome to the forum from Alberta. No guns in WalMart here at all, only air guns and bb guns. They have some ammo but very limited. It was always like that.
