August 29th, 1820

Some black powder shootin' to round out the month of August. Had a couple of old guys (well older than me anyway), there getting ready to shoot a .44 mag mare's leg converted to an SBR with a full length stock on it and a laser dot sight. They just wanted to chat more than shoot but they did spot for me with a high powered gizmo so I didn't have to walk down range to check hits. Plus they brought cookies. Bonus.

Frontier .50 cal
.490 lead ball
.015 patch
50 gn Triple 7 powder

75 yds, off hand, rifle shooting pretty good today.

100 yds, off hand, not too bad today...hard to get those groups to tighten up, she's a long way out.... ...funny, same sort of pattern both times.
