Boomer to the range

Post by Centaur » Sun Aug 15, 2021 2:31 pm

Took my 45-70 out this morning, shooting it from sitting and offhand. Shooting 350 grain bullets ahead of 55 grains of 3031, this load really gets your attention. It should be really good elk medicine. I will be resting my shoulder for the rest of the day.

Offhand... Ok.
Sitting or off a rest? Yikes.
My late brother had a thing for hot loads in his .45-70. The worse the beating the more he liked it. And where is he now?
<kidding, sorry bro>
.
.
He was a such a fun guy. He'd go out to the hundred yard backstop to set up our targets, one time he was walking back and I yelled, "Hold up that pack of cigarettes!" And he'd hold still with the cigarettes up. And I'd yell, "higher!" And he'd reach them higher.
I look around and the other shooters are all alarmed and we'd laugh our as-es off at them. ;)
I miss him a lot.
