August 14th Frontier .50

Post by RanchRoper » Sat Aug 14, 2021 6:03 pm

Pedersoli Frontier .50 cal
.495 lead ball
.010 patch
50 grains Triple 7

80F when I shot this morning, not quite the heat wave predicted. Nice day but windy and a little smoky. I usually shoot .490 lead with a .015 patch but tried some bigger balls today. Wasn't real happy with my 50 yds target so went to 30 yds for the next one but shrank the target too. I've shot better 50 yd groups. The wind had its' way with me today.

50 yds, off hand, 5 shots

We know you've shot better 50 yard targets, but I also know not many people have shot such 50 yard offhand targets, even with a modern rifle and scope. Very impressive, as always.

Excellent shooting. Are those lead balls pure lead of a mix? My muzzleloader doesn't like anything but pure dead soft lead.

Pure lead.
What kind of range do these have? I just checked out a "Traditions" musket I found at Sportsmans. Kinda nice.

Easy 100 yards. Run and hide from Traditions. Junk in my opinion

I shoot 100 yds with mine, groups are not tight but I'm happy to get on paper!
