Slogging through the Mud

Post by Shakey Jake » Fri Jul 16, 2021 3:36 pm

Took the general to the range this morning. We've had a lot of rain around these parts lately. My son went to the 200 yard range and I stayed at the 50 yard range to shoot the Marlin 783 WMR with an old Redfield 3X7 (TV style) scope. Started off a bit high/right then adjusted the scope and went to far low. Finally got it dialed in. 100 rounds of cheap Armscor 40gr at 50 yards.

Looks like that Marlin wore the center out alright! Love the back stop area too!

Nice shooting Jake. Can you shoot steel there or is it only paper?

Sounds like a fun time, despite the mud and water. Always like those old Marlin 780 series bolt guns. I had the 22 LR version in the Model 781 for a time. Nothing fancy, but it was a very good shooter and I did a lot of squirrel hunting with it.

Yeah, but not at the 50 or 100 yard range. The have a pistol range with steel and the 200 yard rifle has steel at varying yardage.

Very nice. Rainy/muddy days are good days for non-private ranges. They are often very private. 8-) Good shooting. I'll bet it was relaxing.
