Cicada Fun

Post by bandit1250 » Thu Jun 17, 2021 5:04 pm

I brought Cicada season on my own Tuesday. I was at the range and they were driving me crazy with all the noise and landing on me. So I watched where they were landing on weeds and really small trees and bushes. I looked through my scope and they were easy to see so I thought they would make a good target. I had my Henry Frontier and my CZ 452 American and a 452 Trainer. Most were between 25 -40 yds. and the tall bank along the open part of the range made shooting very safe. The Henry did pretty well at the 25 yds or a little over but was not up to consistent hits at 40 or farther. Burris 3-9x40 Fullfield scope on top of the Henry. The trigger on that rifle is down right horrible. I hate that trigger. The two CZ's made pretty easy hits when the leaves or the weed stalks were not moving in the breeze. I shot over 4 boxes of ammo that day. Today was the two CZ 452 Mannlicher's turn at the Cicadas. They were very good and I got a lot of shooting in until about 10:30 when the wind picked up. Shooting these ugly bugs is about like hitting a small tube of tooth paste. They explode and make quite a mess. They are starting to die off here now and are dead every where on the ground. Maybe a few more range days to shoot more before they all croak and the targets will be gone. Seriously doubt I will be here 17 years from now when they come back. ;)

Haven’t heard many of them down in North Carolina yet. But this weekend I am in Gettysburg PA. There are a bunch of them here. They could use your services.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)
