Marlin Golden Model 39A
earlier this year a friend of mine for over 50 passed away .... he didn't have any children and we weren't related .... nevertheless our kids considered him to be their Uncle George and he considered them to be his nieces and nephews .... he left our 7 year old grandson the Golden Model 39A 22 that was made in 1995 that is shown below .... its not a valuable rifle but its priceless to our family .... in a couple of weeks we are going to have a Nikon PROSTAFF® Rimfire II Riflescope http://www.cabelas.com/product/nikon-pr ... ff+rimfire mounted on it .... it will officially become our grandson's when his father deems it to be appropriate

Very nice rifle, and it warms the heart when a treasure is passed on to a new generation. The loss of your friend is sad but his love for your family lives on in your memories.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday.

Re: Marlin Golden Model 39A
all positive comments appreciated .... he left several rifles, shotguns, pistols and all sort of fishing rods with tackle boxes of terminal tackle to our sons .... he'd told me that some are nice, some ain't so nice .... we found that the "nice" ones far outnumbered the others .... during much of the last year when I'd drive him to chemo and/or radiation treatments we'd talk about many things .... one thing he planned to do was to buy a Henry 357 rifle to go with his Smith & Wesson revolver .... he never got that done but in his memory we will buy one in August and give to our grandson for his 8th birthday in September .... as with the 22, he will actually get the rifle when his Dad feels he is readyDeadwood Dutch wrote:They are a beautiful rifle! Re: Marlin Golden Model 39A
update :
just picked up our grandson's 37A from having a 3 - 9 Nikon installed .... while there we also added a hammer extension, we believe it will make it easier for our soon to be 8 year old to ease the hammer down .... looking forward to getting him out and sighting it in

I am sure that you are looking forward to taking him shooting with it. I started my grandson when he was 12 with my old single shot .22 and now, at 13, he has his own Remington Model 700 .243. It is good that you can get him interested at 8 years of age, you will have good times together.
