I would make up a 3 sided box to keep the wind off the candle on one of my birthday cupcakes and try it from 30 yds. with my .357 Henry.
So today Easter... my son came by this afternoon with a couple of great birthday gifts from Him his wife and kids. A very nice T-shirt his wife made
for me with the range logo! Chad gave me a nice pair of electronic ear muffs which really worked great and he had a matching pair....so off to the range for some fun!
He brought along his 1911, a Sig P365 and his Glock 23 and I brought the Henry .357 cupcake candle shooter...I hoped!
We setup the box and place the cupcake inside with 3 lit candles clustered in the center. Shooting position was off my deck platform with the cupcake 30 yds. out and a bit of a breeze blowing across the target from the right side.
I had taken a few target shots to check and adjust zero and wanted to aim my shot just below the flame about 1/2 inch so bullet might just hit the tip of the candle.
Well first shot just missed on the windage I believe but the second shot was dead on but just a bit low as it scraped across the top of the cupcake while taking out the candle. Not too bad but not a perfect hit and the candle did go out!
Then my son enjoyed shooting his .45 ACP 1911 along with the Sig P 365 and his Glock 23 .40 cal. he hasn't shot in a good while. He shot his Glock the best today cleaning up on the steel targets like ol' Hickok 45 ! This video with the Sig P 365. https://youtu.be/rt4l6QbScT8
We enjoyed a great time at the range today and something he doesn't get to do as often as he likes.
