Range Report: CO2 Colt Peacemaker

Post by Sir Henry » Mon Mar 15, 2021 5:52 pm

It never reached 50 degrees but at least it’s not raining. I couldn’t take not shooting it any longer and fired off a few.

The problem of the cylinder not turning smoothly was not a problem loading the pistol because the muzzle is pointed down and the makes the cylinder turn much smoother.

This air gun operates just like the real one. I was able to load and turn the cylinder with my left forefinger and feed this the right hand. Ejections also work like the real deal except the brass will slide out when pointed up without the use of the rod.

This thing has a fantastic trigger. It must be around 2 pounds and is smooth. I think in the end the trigger is what will make this one of my favorites.

Out of the box it was shooting high. With fixed sights there is not a lot to be done except aim lower.

Yes aim lower that is the secret. The wind was blowing to hard to try to shoot for groups. I later plinked to the side gongs and that was much funner.

I like the new standing bench I put in place. Before this I either had to carry the firearm to the target which I don’t like or to walk it back 15 yards to the dinner table.

This bench is at 10 meters.

I am impressed. Been waiting for your range report to see how you liked it. Thanks. Sounds like just the thing for us when we have the itch to shoot some single action.

What weight pellet were you using? Pretty easy way to change POI, but I'd probably wait for more friendly CO2 temps before any serious testing.

It shoots bb’s not pellets. I think all bb’s are 4.2 grams? I ordered some premium bb’s today.

This pistol was designed to take full size ammo with the bb in the primer hole and that makes it real cool. The operation and balance is the same as the Peacemaker even though I believe it weighs slightly less

My BB gun shoots knuckle balls.

I have some serious pellet pistols and rifles. This one is for plinking at the side targets along with the matching Winchester 94 coming. Sometimes I feel like giving it my full concentration on paper and sometimes I just like to hear the gongs where a hit is a hit.

Plus I want something for visitors. Having a larger caliber bullet to load and be able to shoot again just by cocking is also a big plus for visitors. It will be faster paced and give visitors more gong hits. Remember bb’s only at the side range.

In my longer term plans are purchases of other inexpensive replicas.

Did they make those revolvers with rifled barrel for .177 pellets? Seem to remember something about that. I think they did for the Dan Wesson.

If we get one, it will be the one for pellets.

I enjoy mine, it is definitely just a fun plinker. I have been wanting to add the pellet model to the collection. Just to scratch that slightly more accurate itch. Pretty sure it will turn out to be a good pellet plinker.
Have fun Gene I envy your backyard range.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)
