we've pretty well decided to purchase a Bond derringer .... I'm looking at their Roughneck and Rowdy lines .... the only difference between them is the length & caliber of the barrels that they come with .... the Roughneck is chambered for 38/357 and has a 2 1/2" barrel .... the Rowdy is chambered for 45LC/410 and has a 3" barrel .... the difference in MSRP is $30 which is the difference in the listed price for a 2 1/2" and 3" barrel .... what I would really like to have is a one with a 3" 38/357 barrel and that's what I'm working on now

You can buy the 3” barrel in 357/38 then you have both

we certainly could .... if worse comes to worse, I'll probably order the Rowdy that has a 3" 45/410 barrel and then order a 3" 38/357 .... that makes more sense to me than having 2 38/357 barrels .... all that being said and realizing things change, I have no use for a 45/410 barrel so I'd rather save that money ... question, does the larger grip you are sending make it easier to hang onto the derringer during recoil ..

BRM when you carry the Bond are you waist carrying on a belt or pocket?

Where did you find that holster?

I've been looking for one like that for a good while now.

I've been finding out that nice clip-ons are pretty hard to find.

question as part of our research in buying a Bond Derringer, for those who have one, what barrel length do you found you prefer for shooting and/or carrying

Interesting. Those bond derringers have a longer barrel and are heavier than my S&W M360 (https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/a ... -special-p). But, my M360 is longer than both. As far as barrel length, I can shoot more accurately at a greater distance with the S&W 65 (3" barrel) than my S&W M360 (1.8" barrel). Then, weight could be a factor as well. My 65 weighs twice as much as my M360. Yet, they both hold about the same amount of rounds (5 and 6).

I tend to believe that would be true for most firearms .... it doesn't take but a tiny flinch to throw a bullet out of a very short barrel way off target

I like the 3" Barrel, but have to say that's the only one I presently have. Not only do I like how it shoots, but I like the looks of it as well.

Yep. I agree. This may be interesting. This indicates that the Rough Neck may pack more of a punch. Probably, due to speed. But, I am not that well versed in bullets performance.

my guess is, the difference is generated more by the burn rate of the powder used than by derringer its fired in

I carry a Ruger LCRX early model with a great trigger pull in double action. Loaded with 5 rounds of 38 special Im betting it weighs less that a Bond 410 with 2 OO buck shells in it. Damage from the Bond will probably be more but Im not volunteering to find out which one does more damage.

I tent to agree with this statement also. I do not have a Bond. But, my M360 is of similar size and weighs less. I can shoot .38s all day long. After 3-4 .357s, I am ready to give my hand a break, and I do. The frame does not absorb much of the recoil. Since the Bond is a two shooter, the recoil may not be noticeable. But after about 15-20 shots with my Davis .38 derringer, I ready to give my hand a break as well. Maybe, I am getting soft as I am aging?

I know I am GFK. I try to keep myself in good shape walking and riding my bike. But when I need the oil changed on a car or truck Im sure not wanting to lay on the concrete and do it anymore. Its not fun.

if we buy a Bond derringer, I'll fire at least 1 full power 357 round .... depending on how it goes, I may or may not ever fire another .. .. either way, I'll report it here ..

from what I've been given to understand by a couple of friends who have (literally) first hand experience, the difference in felt recoil between shooting 38's and 357's in a derringer is considerable .... having fired both in rifles and revolvers, that comes as no surprise ....

I also wear this when carrying Bond Derringer: I usually carry the 45/410 in 3” barrel.
